SUMMARY</b><br>
Upon graduation from the Fire Academy, Recruits will promote to the position of <b>FIREFIGHTER</b> <i>(click the Firefighter link for full position description and salary information)</i>. Firefighters will control and extinguish fires, respond to fire alarms and other emergency calls, protect life and property, and maintain equipment as an employee of the City.<br>
<br>
<b>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE</b><br>
Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire<br>
Must have High School Diploma or G.E.D.<br>
<br>
<b>CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS</b><br>
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona driver license<br>
Possession of a current CPR certification at the time of hire<br>
Possession of a current Arizona EMT (EMTP, EMTB) certification at the time of hire<br>
Possession of a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) received in the last six months is required at the time of application. If you are currently employed as a full-time firefighter for a Phoenix Automatic-Aid consortium fire department, and you attended a regionally accredited training academy, you do not need a CPAT test.<br>

<b>SELECTION PROCESS</b><br>
Applicants whose education, training, and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview and assessment process.<br>
