<div>The City of Topeka is seeking a general facility and equipment maintenance mechanic to perform semi-skilled building, equipment and grounds construction, repair, and maintenance tasks on a variety of city-owned assets and facilities.
This position works Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM &ndash; 3:30 PM.
What you&rsquo;ll do:
<ul><li>Inspect buildings, machinery and equipment to identify the need for repair and maintenance activities.</li>
<li>Carpentry work to repair buildings, facilities and equipment.</li>
<li>Plumbing repair and maintenance duties such as replacement of exposed pipe, sinks and tanks, and unclogging grains.</li>
<li>Repair and maintenance to electrical equipment.</li>
</ul>
The ideal candidate possesses any combination of the following traits:
<ul><li>A basic knowledge of mechanics and/or plumbing hand tools.</li>
<li>Is a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, changing work environment.</li>
<li>Has knowledge of standard safety practices.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent with one year of experience performing semi-skilled building, mechanical, construction or grounds maintenance work is required.</li>
<li>Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver&rsquo;s license and city-insurable driving record. Please review the Insurability Guidelines</li>
<li>Supervisory experience is desirable.</li>
</ul>
Entry rate of pay: $16.62 &ndash; $17.40 per hour, depending on qualifications
