THE POSITION</b><br>
<b>This</b><b> recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and temporary vacancies for up to one year.</b></p><p>
The incumbent in the Police Clerk position will perform a variety of specialized clerical duties to support the Police Department, including preparing and maintaining police records and reports, assisting the public and staff with information requests, and ensuring compliance with department procedures. This role is essential in supporting efficient recordkeeping and daily police operations.</p><p><b>

THE CITY OF VALLEJO</b><br>

Compile, type, record and file a wide variety of police records, reports and materials including memoranda, letters, reports, complaints, declarations, booking information, restraining orders, fingerprint cards, warrants, citations, and crime and traffic reports.</li><li>
Maintain the Department's warrant system including notification, tracking and documentation on attempts to serve; access information from the computerized warrant system.</li><li>
Sort, file, copy and distribute crime reports, traffic reports, citations, petitions, and other materials to appropriate personnel.</li><li>
Assist Department personnel and the public in person and by phone including retrieving information and files, mailing out requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations, and providing general information regarding Department policies, procedures and regulations.</li><li>
Operate a computer terminal; enter and retrieve data on the CLETS system; assist officers in need of information from the CLETS system; type, enter, modify and retrieve a wide variety of police reports and records, memoranda, letters and other material.</li><li>
Maintain a variety of police records filing systems including the Department's traffic accident files.</li><li>
Receive lost and stolen property; contact the owner; release impounded and recovered vehicles.</li><li>
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.</li></ul></div><p></p>

Experience and Training Guidelines<br>

Experience:</div><div>
One year of clerical work experience requiring public contact and the interpretation of rules and regulations.</div><div><br>
Training:</div><div>
A high school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized clerical training.</div></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div>The Recruitment &amp; Selection Process</div><ul><li>
Applications are due by 5:00 P.M. on Monday, December 22, 2025. Applicants must submit a completed City of Vallejo online application, including all responses to the Supplemental Questionnaire (Resume/Cover Letter Optional), by the posted deadline in order to be considered.</li><li><p>
Applications will be screened for overall qualifications the week of December 22, 2025.</p></li><li><p>
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will have their supplemental responses scored by subject matter experts the week of December 29, 2025. The most qualified applicants from the scoring of the supplemental questions will be invited to participate in oral panel interviews.</p></li><li><p>
Oral Panel Interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place the week of January 19th, 2026. Oral panel interviews are weighted at 100% of a candidate&rsquo;s score. Candidates must achieve a minimum passing score of 70%. Those who score 70% or higher will be placed on the Register of Eligibles (eligible list) and may be considered to fill positions for up to one year.</p></li><li><p>
Candidates placed on the Register of Eligibles (eligible list) will be referred to the department for final interviews based on their performance in the exam. The number of candidates referred for a hiring interview is at the discretion of the hiring department.</p></li></ul><div><i>
