Salary: 
Firefighter Paramedic - $113,112 - $147,828 annually 
Depending on years of experience

Job Details</h2>
Applicants must meet the following requirements by the application date:<ul><li>
A citizen of the United States of America or lawful permanent resident</li><li>
Ability to read and write the English language</li><li>
High School Diploma or the equivalent</li><li>
21 years of age</li><li>
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver&rsquo;s license</li><li>
Three (3) consecutive years experience as a full-time, paid firefighter with an agency whose primary responsibility is fire protection and emergency service and have primary responsibilities including fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, and emergency medical services</li><li>
 Washington State Emergency Medical Technician Basic or out of state EMT that meets WAC 246-976-142 requirements for certification.</li><li>
Certification as a Washington State Paramedic, or for any Out-of-State National Registered Paramedic, the ability to complete all Washington State Department of Health certification requirements listed in the Washington State Certification application packet within the first 6 months of employment.</li><li>
Must possess a NFPA Firefighter 2 certification or equivalent.</li></ul>
Special Requirements:<ul><li>
Any applicant receiving an offer of employment from the City of Vancouver must be able to score well in a panel interview, pass a thorough background investigation, do well in a Chief&rsquo;s interview and successfully complete physical ability, psychological and medical testing.</li></ul><ul><li>
Ability to pass an extensive history screening process</li><li>

Vancouver Firefighters are expected to provide exceptional public safety and emergency service to our community. After a comprehensive recruit academy, our firefighters will be expected to follow instructions and safely handle specialized equipment to perform firefighting and EMS operations &ndash; often in high stress situations. Following direction from their chain of command, firefighters will responsibly manage their time on-duty between running calls, submitting documentation, completing projects, keeping up with department training modules, and maintaining equipment, apparatus, and stations. Firefighters are expected to represent the Vancouver Fire Department and the City of Vancouver with a high level of professionalism while interacting with colleagues, command and civilian staff, and the public.
