About the Team</b></h3>
<p>
The <b>ClickPipes - Database Integrations</b> team builds the platform that enables real-time data replication from databases into ClickHouse at petabyte scale.</p>
<p>
As a member of this team, you will be solving complex database-related challenges and distributed systems problems, such as understanding database internals to optimize snapshotting strategy, handling schema evolution during live replication, managing data type compatibility across systems, maintaining low end-to-end latency under unpredictable loads, and leveraging durable execution frameworks to ensure data consistency over unreliable networks. We work in the open &mdash; our database integrations are built on PeerDB, an open-source CDC platform we actively maintain and contribute to.</p>

</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What You'll Do:</b></h3>
<ul>
<li><p><b>Build data-intensive systems</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Design and develop high-throughput integrations with databases (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB), data lakes (Iceberg, Delta Lake), and data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake).</li>
<li>Handle edge cases in real-world production scenarios: unconventional database setups, internals of data types, database upgrades/failovers, large transactions, etc.</li>
<li>Design integration solutions to enable users to fully harness ClickHouse's performance and throughput.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Own end-to-end reliability</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Debug complex issues in production leveraging runtime diagnostics (e.g. pprof, parca) and observability tools (e.g. metrics, logging, tracing).</li>
<li>Build and improve infrastructure and tools to increase system reliability, reduce incident response time, and simplify/automate operations.</li>
<li>Write clear documentation, both publicly and internally.</li>
<li>Participate in on-call rotation.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Drive product innovation</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Work directly with customers to understand integration requirements and discover gaps in existing product.</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure operational efficiency.</li>
<li>Lead technical discussions and influence product roadmaps.</li>
</ul></li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>About You:</b></h3>
<ul><li>5+ years of industry experience building data-intensive software solutions.</li>
<li>Proficient in Go, or experienced in systems programming with willingness to ramp up quickly in Go.</li>
<li>Cloud-native experience deploying and operating services on at least one major cloud platform (AWS/GCP/Azure).</li>
<li>Practical experience with Kubernetes.</li>
<li>Strong problem solver and solid production debugging skills.</li>
<li>Clear communication in writing (design docs, code review) and verbally (technical discussions, customer calls, incident response).</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Bonus Points</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with database replication technologies (CDC, logical replication).</li>
<li>Experience with durable execution frameworks (Temporal).</li>
<li>Experience with data formats and protocols (Avro, Parquet, Protobuf).</li>
<li>Experience with modern data processing frameworks (e.g. Kafka, Spark, Flink).</li>
<li>Experience with maintaining/contributing to open-source software.</li>

The Connectors team is the bridge between ClickHouse and the entire data ecosystem. We build and maintain the connectors that make ClickHouse accessible to millions of developers and data practitioners worldwide. Our work spans from low-level database integrations to high-level data visualization plugins, ensuring that ClickHouse seamlessly integrates with the tools our users already know and love.</p>

We're responsible for the official data connectors (Kafka, dbt, Spark, Flink, Beam, Fivetran), and integrations with leading visualization platforms (Grafana, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase).</p>
<h4 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
What will you do?</b></h4>
<p>
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in JVM-based frameworks, you'll serve as a core contributor, owning and maintaining critical parts of ClickHouse's Data engineering ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of high-performance database engineering and developer experience, where you'll craft tools that enable Data Engineers to harness ClickHouse's incredible speed and scale.</p>
<p>
You'll own the full lifecycle of data framework integrations - from the core database driver that handles billions of records per second, to SDKs and connectors that make ClickHouse feel native in JVM-based applications. This isn't just about writing code; you're building the foundation that thousands of Data engineers rely on for their most critical data workloads.</p>
<p>
Your work will directly impact how companies process massive datasets, from real-time analytics platforms ingesting millions of events per second to observability systems monitoring global infrastructure. You'll collaborate closely with the open-source community, internal teams, and enterprise users to ensure our JVM integrations set the standard for performance, reliability, and developer experience.</p>
<div>
About you:</div>
<ul><li>6+ years of software development experience focusing on building and delivering high-quality, data-intensive solutions.</li>
<li>Proven experience with the internals of streaming or data integration frameworks, <b>with strong preference for Apache Kafka (or similar pub/sub systems), Kafka Connect, Apache Flink or Apache Beam</b>.</li>
<li>Experience developing or extending connectors, sinks, or sources for at least one streaming processing framework such as Apache Flink, Beam, or Kafka Connect, <b>with preference for experience building or maintaining production-grade streaming connectors.</b></li>
<li>Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar distributed messaging systems (e.g., Pulsar, Kinesis), including topic design, consumer groups, and performance tuning.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of database fundamentals: SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and familiarity with OLAP/analytical databases.</li>
</ul><div>A track record of building scalable data integration systems (beyond simple ETL jobs)</div>
<ul><li>Strong proficiency in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including deep knowledge of memory management, garbage collection tuning, and performance profiling.</li>
<li>Solid experience with concurrent programming in Java, including threads, executors, and reactive or asynchronous patterns.</li>
<li>Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively within the team and across engineering functions.</li>
<li>Understanding of JDBC, network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and techniques for optimizing data throughput over the wire.</li>
<li>Passion for open-source development.</li>

<ul><li>Prior contributions to open-source projects: actively engaging with the OSS community, advocating for users, and influencing the evolution of the core system through your contributions - big advantage.</li>
<li>Familiarity with ClickHouse or similar high-performance data platforms.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of Python, especially in data engineering contexts (e.g., Pandas, PySpark, Airflow), and ability to contribute to Python tooling when needed.</li>
