Role Overview: A Design Technologist in a design systems unit serves as a bridge between designers and developerssupporting both to build consistent, high-quality digital products across the organization. Design system engineer acts as a workflow integrator, ensuring cohesion between design and engineering. Ideal for someone who can take design ideas from prototypes through to production-ready code. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Collaborate with designers to translate high-fidelity UI designs into interactive, coded UI components.</li> <li>Build and maintain design-system components ensuring design consistency across products.</li> <li>Develop accessible, performant, responsive interfaces (WCAG standards, internationalisation).</li> <li>Document design patterns, assist in creating/maintaining the style guide and code library.</li> <li>Document Design System components in Storybook.</li> <li>Work within agile methodologies, participate in Agile ceremonies across Tribes.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to refine components, define and integrate design tokens and APIs.</li> </ul> Requirements &amp; Skills: Technical Skills : <ul> <li>HTML5, CSS3 (SASS/LESS), JavaScript TypeScript (ES6+) solid foundation</li> <li>Familiarity with at least one modern UI framework or library iOS (Swift UI) </li> <li>Build/design tooling: Figma, Storybook, Style Dictionary, Figmatocode plugins</li> <li>Understanding of component architecture: theming, tokens, props API </li> <li>Accessibility (WCAG 2.0/2.1), responsive design, mobile-first </li> <li>Comfortable working with CI/CD and deployment pipelines for automated builds, testing, and package publishing</li> <li>Version control (GitHub) </li> <li>Agile/scrum experience</li> </ul> Design &amp; UX Skills <ul> <li>Proficient in Figma</li> <li>Strong sense of interaction, visual, and motion design with attention to detail</li> <li>UX fundamentals: user flows, accessibility, inclusive design</li> </ul> Familiarity with ISO usability standards (ISO 9241) a plus
