Reports To: Environmental Services Supervisor
Summary: Maintains a clean and pleasant environment for the patients/residents at CHS. Duties include cleaning patient/residents&rsquo; rooms, baths, laboratories, facility offices, halls, and other areas of the health system by performing a variety of cleaning duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Uses proper cleaning products and procedures in order to effectively clean and disinfect patient/resident rooms, clinical areas, offices and all other health system areas.</li><li>
Wash beds and mattresses, and remake beds after dismissal of patient/resident and as needed.</li>
On a daily basis a large quantity of linens is utilized<li>-such as bedding, gowns and scrubs. Environmental Services are responsible for gathering, washing, ironing, folding, inspecting, and mending all of the linens used at their location.
</li><li>Keep utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition.</li><li>
Disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies.</li><li>
Sweep, dust, mop, wet mop, wax, and polish floors.</li><li>
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.</li><li>
Dust furniture and equipment. Polish metalwork.</li><li>
Wash walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Wash windows, door panels, and sills.</li><li>
Clean bath/shower and toilets in patient/resident rooms and all other health system restrooms.</li><li>
Clean entrance and exit areas; vacuum / clean entrance mats, pick up trash and emptying trash containers.
</li><li>Clean dining room areas after each meal.</li><li>
Empty wastebaskets, transports trash and waste to the designated location based on content.
</li><li>Perform laundry duties as assigned.
</li><li>Utilize the proper equipment and safety devices when moving furniture, supplies, etc.</li><li>
Use proper protective clothing/devices when handling/disposing of infectious materials including materials exposed to blood or other body fluids.</li><li>
Assist in the evacuation and/or movement of patients/residents as needed.</li><li>
Attend in-service training programs or meetings.</li><li>
Maintain confidentiality regarding patient/residents, families, staff, and the health system.</li><li>
Develop and maintain a professional demeanor and rapport with patients/residents, visitors, and staff.</li><li>
Participate in fire, safety, and disaster preparedness drills.</li><li>
Be able to work in a team setting in order to accomplish the daily required tasks of the EVS department.
</li><li>Comply with the employee personnel policies, department policies and the CHS Code of Conduct.
</li><li>Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.</div>
