The department develops models and drawings based on the design intent communicated by TAS Project Engineers. These system designs include the appropriate structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls sub-assemblies. Project Engineer

<div><div>OVERVIEW:</div><div>
TAS Design &amp; Drafting Group reviews customer requirements, specifications, manufacturing constraints and other design inputs to generate comprehensive packaged equipment designs and system layouts. The department develops models and drawings based on the design intent communicated by TAS Project Engineers. These system designs include the appropriate structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls sub-assemblies. Design outputs are communicated through 3D/CAD drawings for the purchase of incorporated components and manufacture of TAS products.</div><div></div><div>
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:</div><ul><li>
Interpret piping and instrument diagrams, site layouts, equipment layouts, piping plan drawings, process flow diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and GA drawings with respect to packaged equipment system designs</li><li>
Design and modify equipment systems based on information received from customers while ensuring compliance with all codes and recognized standards</li><li>
Build and maintain effective working relationships with other designers and departments</li></ul><ul><li>
Maintain drafting production schedule for different types of drawings along with ensuring accuracy of deliverables</li><li>
Deliver consistent value engineered alternatives in designs</li><li>
Develop, improve, and publish department practices/standards</li><li>
Review scope documents and specifications for verification of design against the design intent and customer requirements</li><li>
Successfully create moderate to complex, reliable, 3D models with precision and a high degree of accuracy including mating surfaces, finding correct library parts, performing extrusions, creating assemblies, and exploded view diagrams with BOM&rsquo;s</li><li>
Consistently produce all layouts and section views with accurate BOM&rsquo;s, callouts, and dimensions</li><li>
Perform preliminary design calculations and simulations such as load lists, flow models, piping and structural stress analysis for engineer review</li><li>
As a department technical resource and team leader, trains designers on industry and department practices/standards</li><li>
Prepare accurate engineering estimates based on review of scope documents and specifications</li><li>
Successfully lead teams of designers through challenging projects</li><li>
Serve as a design leader, helping reinforce the desired culture and work environment of the department</li><li>
Assist with checking other designer work when required</li><li>
Consistently execute the design process per all department processes from inception to closure</li><li>
Conduct flawless model reviews per department processes; audits the models and model reviews of other designers</li><li>
Travel to customer or vendor sites as required</li><li>
Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS</li></ul><div></div><div>
JOB SKILLS:</div><ul><li>
A lead designer and team leader in package/plant designs and layouts with broad knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems</li><li>
Knowledgeable of codes typically applicable to TAS equipment including NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, UMC, OSHA, and building codes etc.</li><li>
A self-starter and highly skilled Solid Works designer capable of performing all design, and Solid Works modeling tasks required for delivering production level drawings to purchasing and production departments with limited direction</li></ul><div></div><div>
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:</div><ul><li>
8+ years of mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design experience relevant to manufacture of TAS products</li><li>
Experience with Solid Works is required</li><li>
AutoCAD and Microsoft office suite experience</li><li>
Experience in HVAC, piping design, and industrial plant design is required</li></ul><div></div><div>
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:</div><ul><li>
High school diploma</li><li>
Direct industry experience</li><li>
Associates Degree in a technical discipline or graphics design is a plus</li></ul><div></div><div>
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</div><div>
Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.
