About the RoleWe&rsquo;re looking for someone who loves telling stories, making videos, and genuinely loves social media strategy to create and post founder-led, behind-the-scenes, storytelling videos to our social channels. You&rsquo;ll collaborate closely with the Chief Growth Officer to manage content &amp; social strategy, planning, scripting, filming, editing, and posting.Responsibilities<ul><li>Plan weekly social content (formats, hooks, angles, platforms)</li><li>Develop content ideas and storylines aligned with Commonplace&rsquo;s brand and growth goals</li><li>Script and storyboard short-form videos</li><li>Film in-office and on-location in NYC (2&ndash;3 days/week)</li><li>Edit social-first videos with strong pacing and emotional clarity</li><li>Post 2-3 short-form videos per week (30-90s) on Instagram, TikTok, and YT Shorts</li><li>Learn from post performance and iterate (what worked, what didn&rsquo;t, why)</li><li>Collaborate closely with founders and growth on narrative and execution</li><li>Cinematic vlogs, mini trailers, and serialized content</li></ul>Who You Are<ul><li>You love creating short-form content videos and telling stories</li><li>You enjoy thinking about hooks, pacing, and why people keep watching</li><li>You combine creative strategic thinking and taste</li></ul>Required Skills &amp; Experience<ul><li>2+ years of experience planning, filming, editing, and posting social videos</li><li>Track record of one social account (personal or brand) that you&rsquo;ve managed and grown organically</li><li>Strong grasp of short-form storytelling and social formats</li><li>Understanding of basic cinematography (light, framing, movement)</li><li>Advanced video editing style and skills, optimized for short-form video</li><li>Own a camera, lighting, and audio gear preferred</li><li>Comfortable receiving feedback and moving fast</li><li>Background in journalism, content marketing, social media, or filmmaking a plus</li></ul>What We Offer<ul><li>Compensation: $25/hour (~20 hours/week), or as agreed on a per project basis</li><li>Opportunity to tell the story of a startup and grow our social accounts</li><li>High creative trust and ownership</li><li>A tight-knit, early-stage team where everyone had momentum, autonomy, and room to experiment.</li><li>Opportunity to grow into a full-time role</li></ul>About CommonplaceSince launching in March 2024, Commonplace has grown from a niche marketplace (Trade My Stuff) into a national platform serving thousands of buyers and sellers moving high-value fitness and wellness equipment. We&rsquo;ve been featured in the Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, New York Post, Financial Times, and CNBC.Commonplace is a startup that powers the full resale experience for bulky items: discovery, payments, logistics, and customer protection. We replace ghosting, spammy messages, unsafe meetups, and DIY hauling with a trusted, retail-like experience.Note: This is a part-time contract position.
