This individual will be responsible for advancing the intellectual, social-emotional, and personal development of students in grades 6&ndash;12, and for contributing to a comprehensive counseling program that upholds the highest standards of professional practice.The successful candidate will exhibit deep expertise in adolescent development, a demonstrated history of effective school-based counseling, and a thorough command of the U.S. college admissions landscape. A steadfast commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and student advocacy is essential.Key Responsibilities:Student Support and Counseling<ul><li>Deliver individual and small-group counseling services addressing academic difficulties, emotional needs, behavioral concerns, and peer relationships.</li><li>Design and execute school-wide initiatives that promote student wellness, resilience, social-emotional skill development, and a positive school culture.</li><li>Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions in collaboration with faculty, administrators, and caregivers.</li><li>Maintain comprehensive, confidential, and compliant records aligned with professional and legal standards.</li></ul>Academic Guidance<ul><li>Advise students on academic planning, course selection, and strategies to support effective learning and study habits.</li><li>Monitor academic performance, identify areas requiring attention, and work closely with teachers to ensure consistent and coordinated support.</li><li>Provide structured guidance in developing executive-functioning skills, including organization, time management, and decision-making.</li></ul>College and Post-Secondary Advising<ul><li>Direct students through all aspects of the college planning and application process, offering individualized guidance on curriculum choices, standardized testing timelines, essays, and recommendation procedures.</li><li>Ensure students and families receive current, accurate information on U.S. college admissions practices, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities.</li><li>Lead informational sessions and workshops for students and parents on college readiness, application strategies, and postsecondary pathways.</li><li>Remain informed about evolving trends in higher education, selective admissions policies, and considerations for international applicants.</li></ul>Collaboration and School Engagement<ul><li>Partner with teachers, staff, and families to cultivate a supportive, equitable, and inclusive school climate.</li><li>Serve as a resource to faculty by providing insights on student well-being, classroom dynamics, and social-emotional learning practices.</li><li>Facilitate referrals to external mental health providers or community-based services when warranted.</li><li>Participate actively in school initiatives, committees, and ongoing professional development programs.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>Master&rsquo;s degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Education, or a related field.</li><li>State certification or licensure in school counseling is strongly preferred.</li><li>A minimum of three years of counseling experience in private high school.</li><li>Demonstrated mastery of U.S. college counseling processes, including the Common Application, UC admissions systems, standardized testing frameworks, and preparation of application-related documents.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Application Question(s):<ul><li>Do you have more than three years of experience as a private high school college counselor?</li></ul>Work Location: In person
