Position Summary</b></h2><p>
The Reference Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship in the library of a Community College providing library services to students, faculty, staff and citizens of the communities served by the College. The Reference Librarian&rsquo;s main function encompasses a broad spectrum including: reference services via in-person, phone, and online chat; collection development; assisting in interlibrary loan; circulation management; troubleshooting basic IT questions; and individualized instruction with library resources.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></h2><p>
Under the direction of the Director of Library Services or other administrator the Reference Librarian is responsible for effective performance in these essential duties:<br>

Key responsibilities include:</p><ul><li>
Public and Reference Services: Answer reference inquiries in a variety of formats, including in-person, email, phone, and on-line chat.</li><li>
Technical Services: Perform basic ILS circulation functions, contribute to collection development activities, and assist in the administration of interlibrary loan.</li><li>
Information Technology: Respond to basic requests for assistance with printing, scanning, copying, and word processing programs. Help with Blackboard or other online learning platforms.</li><li>
Information Literacy: Instruct students on the use of library resources, including how to locate and evaluate sources.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned: Participates in special projects and contributes to the overall efficient functioning of the library.</li></ul><p><i>

Minimum Qualifications</b></h2><p>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Library Science with one (1) or more years of relevant experience working in a Library.</p><p>
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p><ul><li>
Knowledge of library services</li><li>
Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision</li><li>
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills</li><li>
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Preferred Qualifications</b></h2><ul><li>
Experience in a higher education setting</li><li>
Familiarity with current trends in librarianship</li><li>
Experience with programming and outreach</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Salary</b></h2><ul><li>
