Performs a variety of front desk activities (answering phones/greeting patients) that support the Center and professional staff and performs a variety of essential services (checking-in, checking-out, etc.) as directed or requested by Practice Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Assist with/complete all Front Desk operations and the use of the Practice Management system to ensure efficient patient registration and check out processes.</li><li>
Greeting patients and verifying/inputting demographic information into Practice management system.</li><li>
Collecting and inputting all valid licenses and insurance information.</li><li>
Collecting and posting all co-payments and payments made at time of service.</li><li>
Maintaining/organizing patient documents/files</li><li>
Answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking messages</li><li>
Reconciling co-pays and time of service payments collected daily</li><li>
Filing/labeling/sending outbound and inbound faxes</li><li>
Maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling patient&rsquo;s medical records and information.</li><li>
May perform charge entry process.</li><li>
Completing referrals for a specialist</li><li>
Prior authorization requests from patients and/or providers</li><li>
Filing any/all paper</li><li>
Rooming patients when checked in and provider is ready to treat the patient</li><li>
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned</li></ul>
Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience<ul><li>
High School graduate or equivalent. Computer literacy required.</li><li>
1-2 years of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required.</li><li>
Experience of working in the health or other public sector organization helpful, but not necessary.</li></ul>
Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies<ul><li>
Business office procedures</li><li>
Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic arithmetic</li><li>
Medical insurance and medical billing skills</li><li>
Operating all office equipment</li><li>
Strong organizational and leadership skills</li><li>
Answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line telephone system.</li><li>
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.</li><li>
Speak clearly and concisely</li><li>
Read, understands, and follows oral and written instruction.</li><li>
Exceptional customer service skills</li><li>
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems</li><li>
Ability and willingness to help patients with check in or check out process</li><li>
Work may require hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation.</li><li>
Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies.</li><li>
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary.</li><li>
Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contact.</li><li>
It is necessary to view computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment that may be stressful</li></ul>

The compensation range for this position is $16.00/hour&ndash; $23.00/hour. Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
