Mashable is looking for a digital culture associate editor with deep familiarity with online trends, the latest tech hardware and software, content creators and creator culture.

</div><div>If you&rsquo;re obsessed with digital culture&mdash;tracking the latest TikTok trends, decoding the influencer economy, following the rise of new internet subcultures, and exploring how creators are shaping the online world&mdash;bring your sharpest insights and most compelling stories to life at Mashable.

</div><div>The ideal candidate can quickly and cleanly write and edit news hits. They&rsquo;ll be able to spot trends, especially on social, and create and edit content in a variety of formats, including video. Knowledge of pop culture and current events is a must.
</div><div>
</div><div>Familiarity with the tech and tools creators are using to connect in social spaces &ndash; from phones and laptops to video editing software and project management apps &ndash; will be an important part of this role, too.
</div><div>
</div><div>The ideal candidate should have an active social media presence and should know how to grow one, and should know which platforms and people are having the most impact in digital culture. They also will be able to help Mashable develop and execute content strategy that amplifies our journalism on social platforms and will help build engaged communities in those spaces, too.</div><div></div><div><br>

A self-starter and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and will help support newsroom operations including scheduling and team communications.

Well-versed in SEO and in supporting content strategy on a variety of social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and whatever else comes next.</li><li>
Willing to chat about the day&rsquo;s events and find interesting angles and stories to cover.
</li><li>A top-notch writer with a firm grasp of AP style and the ability to quickly turn around clean copy.</li></ul><div>

Key Responsibilities:</b></div><ul><li>
Write news hits, evergreen utilities, consumer tech-focused content and features</li><li>
Write about the creator economy and the creators who are driving social trends
</li><li>Be comfortable brand-building and promoting Mashable content on social</li><li>
Write about phones, apps, and other products and developments in tech spaces with a conversational and engaging tone</li><li>
Proactively pitch stories, and always be looking for reliable sources and interesting angles on fresh, tech- and digital culture-related topics</li><li>
Help elevate the quality of our journalism with forward-looking enterprise and original content</li><li>
Engage audiences with our journalism via social platforms</li><li>
Review and write about new products and software releases (inclusive of affiliate linking)</li><li>
Be prepared to research and familiarize yourself with new subject matter in order to pivot with daily coverage needs</li><li>
Write content around deals on products (inclusive of affiliate linking)</li></ul><div>

Job Qualifications:</b></div><ul><li>
2+ years as a digital culture reporter or editor
</li><li>Ability to multitask and meet deadlines</li><li>
Strong communication skills</li><li>
Knowledge of the digital space and Mashable's core coverage areas</li><li>
Understand audience listening, including using trending, engagement and historical audience data to inform story pitches</li></ul><div>

Compensation Range
</b></div><div>This is a union position covered by the NewsGuild of New York (LINK: https://nyguild.org). The contractual minimum salary for this position is $65,000.</div><div>
