We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented <b>Fire Alarm System Designer</b> to join our team. This role is focused on the end-to-end design of code-compliant and technically sound <b>fire alarm systems</b> for commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will hold a current <b>Texas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS)</b> license and have a <b>minimum NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems</b>.</div><div>
This position plays a key role in project delivery&mdash;from system layout to permitting&mdash;and includes managing external design subcontractors. While the core focus is on fire alarm design, experience with <b>security systems</b> (CCTV, access control, intrusion) is a <b>plus</b>.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Design complete fire alarm systems, including layout drawings, risers, wiring schematics, and equipment schedules</li><li>
Produce accurate and code-compliant CAD drawings and documentation for submittals and permitting</li><li>
Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, local codes, and project specifications</li><li>
Prepare and coordinate full submittal packages for review by clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)</li><li>
Review and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to develop complete fire alarm designs</li><li>
Collaborate with internal teams (sales, project management, technicians) to ensure design intent and installation alignment</li><li>
Act as a liaison with AHJs during permitting and inspection processes</li><li><b>
Manage and coordinate work of external design subcontractors</b> to ensure quality, timeliness, and code compliance</li><li>
Stay up to date on industry best practices, technologies, and evolving code requirements</li></ul><div><b>
Bonus Responsibilities (Preferred, Not Required):</b></div><ul><li>
Assist with estimating fire alarm systems and budget development</li><li>
Provide conceptual designs for integrated security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection)</li><li>
Coordinate security system scope with internal teams or subcontractors</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Valid Texas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS) license</b></li><li><b>
NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems</b> (required)</li><li>
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm system design</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in <b>AutoCAD</b> (Revit and Bluebeam experience a plus)</li><li>
Strong working knowledge of <b>NFPA 72</b>, <b>NEC</b>, <b>IFC</b>, and local codes</li><li>
Experience developing submittals, riser diagrams, and system calculations</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to manage external design subcontractors or drafting resources</li><li>
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills</li><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate&rsquo;s or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field preferred</li></ul><p></p><div><b>
