Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Copy Editor to join our local newspaper team. In this role, you will be responsible for refining and polishing a wide range of written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Your keen eye for detail and mastery of language will help elevate our messaging across various platforms, from marketing materials to digital content. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to local publications while honing your editing skills in a friendly environment.Duties<ul><li>Proofread and copy edit a variety of content, including articles, blog posts, marketing copy, proposals, and technical documents.</li><li>Fact-check information for accuracy and verify sources through research to maintain credibility and integrity of all content.</li><li>Edit for clarity, tone, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and overall readability while maintaining the original voice and intent.</li><li>Collaborate with writers and content creators to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.</li><li>Ensure all content aligns with brand standards, target audience expectations, and project objectives.</li><li>Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.</li><li>Utilize word processing tools effectively to revise documents efficiently and maintain organized records of edits.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Proven experience in proofreading, copy editing, or editing across diverse content types.</li><li>Strong writing skills with an understanding of creative writing techniques as well as technical writing principles.</li><li>Familiarity with Cedar City and surrounding Iron County areas.</li><li>Excellent communication skills to clearly convey feedback and collaborate with team members.</li><li>Ability to conduct research efficiently to verify facts and gather relevant information.</li><li>Experience in journalism or copywriting is highly desirable.</li><li>Knowledge of word processing software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs is essential.</li><li>Join us as a Copy Editor and play a vital role in delivering polished, impactful content that engages our local audience!</li></ul>Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hourWork Location: Hybrid remote in Cedar City, UT 84721
