We are looking for a Work Ready Specialist (Athletic Trainer) to join our team at our Hampton, VA site. This is a full-time position, Mon-Thu, 10-hr day shifts.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
CORE&rsquo;s Work Ready Specialist is responsible for promoting injury prevention and discomfort interventions for musculoskeletal workplace injuries and illnesses within the scope of their authority as defined by OSHA&rsquo;s guideline for first aid. Additionally, the Worksite Work Ready Specialist develops programs to improve overall employee health and wellness.
DUTIES:
<ul><li>Deliver proactive injury prevention and first aid triage services to address early signs of discomfort and reduce musculoskeletal injury risk.</li><li>
Build strong relationships with employees through consistent onsite presence, fostering trust and encouraging early reporting of health concerns.</li><li>
Design and lead job-specific warm-up, stretching, and mobility routines tailored to shift schedules and physical demands.</li><li>
Provide onsite support for both work-related and non-work-related discomforts, offering real-time care, ergonomic coaching, and guidance.</li><li>
Conduct ergonomic assessments across various settings&mdash;including onsite, office, vehicle, and virtual&mdash;and recommend adjustments to reduce strain and improve safety.</li><li>
Observe work activities to identify health risks and provide real-time coaching to improve body mechanics and postural habits.</li><li>
Monitor participation and injury trends to continuously improve movement and stretching programs.</li><li>
Track and document daily interactions, early symptom patterns, and musculoskeletal risk factors to support data-driven safety decisions.</li><li>
Provide regular reports to the designated Project Manager, including discomfort mapping, trend analysis, and program impact metrics.</li><li>
Support return-to-work coordination by collaborating with supervisors, safety teams, and medical providers to ensure safe reintegration.</li><li>
Assist in identifying modified duty options aligned with employee physical restrictions and job descriptions.</li><li>
Refer employees to secondary care providers when needed and monitor recovery progress.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of triage, assessments, education, and wellness activities.</li><li>
Create and manage individualized wellness plans, including exercise and nutrition programs, to support long-term health goals.</li><li>
Engage employees daily through wellness education, toolbox talks, Lunch &amp; Learns, and one-on-one coaching on hydration, fatigue, nutrition, sleep, and stress management.</li><li>
Support post-offer, pre-placement, and post-incident drug screening processes.</li><li>
Provide support for employees on leave or extended time off to ensure continuity of services.</li><li>
Collaborate with site leadership and across departments to support strategic initiatives, internal training, client-facing events, and emergency response efforts.</li><li>
Use available technology to enhance delivery of injury prevention and wellness services.</li><li>
Apply OSHA First Aid standards and maintain thorough knowledge of OSHA health and safety practices.</li><li>
Adhere to all CORE policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.</li><li>
Perform additional duties as assigned to support CORE&rsquo;s mission and operational efficiency.</li></ul>
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field.</li></ul>
Certification &amp; Licensures:<ul><li>
Valid Athletic Trainer license (in good standing) for each state where services are provided.</li><li>
Current certification by NATA BOC or ability to obtain preferred.</li><li>
Current CPR/BLS certification required.</li><li>
Valid Driver&rsquo;s License and reliable transportation.</li></ul>
Experience:
<ul><li>Supervised clinical experience meeting the requirements for Athletic Trainer license required.</li><li>
Minimum 1 year of customer service/patient care experience.</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in musculoskeletal injury prevention and first aid.</li><li>
Ability to meet physical demands of on-site work (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs, frequent standing, walking, squatting).</li></ul>
Preferred Experience:<ul><li>
1&ndash;3 years in industrial or office ergonomics, industrial sports medicine, functional employment testing, job task analysis, orthopedics, wellness, or occupational health.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field.</li><li>
Ergonomic Certification or formal training.</li><li>
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.</li><li>
FMS Level 1 or higher certification.</li></ul>

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Perform pre-placement physical examinations for new hires.</li>
<li>Provide medical assessments and health services to employees who become ill or injured at work.</li>

<li>Assist with coordination of care, physician referrals, transitional duty program.</li>

Experience:
<ul>
<li>Previous experience practicing in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Emergency Medicine is desirable.</li>
<li>Recently licensed graduates who are highly motivated are encouraged to apply.</li>
<li>Previous experience in working with Workers Compensation, DOT, and OSHA Regulated Exams desirable.</li>
<li>Valid motor vehicle license and clear driving record.</li>
