Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings &ndash; carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Role Summary</b></h2>
<p>
We are seeking a hands-on Project Electrical Engineer to support the installation, modification, and startup of production and automation equipment across domestic and international manufacturing sites. This role is highly collaborative, floor‑focused, and integral to ensuring safe, efficient, and on‑time equipment installation and commissioning.</p><br>

<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Key Responsibilities</b></h2>
<ul><li>Execute electrical and automated system installation, construction, debugging, troubleshooting, and startup activities with a focus on safety. Includes leading trades teams.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Conduct initial equipment setup and debugging prior to operational handoff. Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide direction for needed repairs or modifications.</li>
<li>Identify opportunities to improve installation efficiency and implement best practices. Prepare, review, and update installation documentation, including drawings and checklists.</li>
<li>Procure and expedite materials required for equipment builds and installations. Review and update part lists, specifications, and related engineering documentation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Understanding use and set-up of machine controls for system analog and digital I/O requirements, control sequence logic, fail safe states and recovery sequence digital and analog I/O .</li></ul><br>

Required Education &amp; Skills</b></h2>
<ul><li>BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (rare exceptions considered). Atleast 2-7 years of manufacturing or related experience.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Knowledge of 480VAC and below power systems.</li>
<li>Translates engineering solutions to requirements, then further to process and/or equipment designs which deliver required performance criteria as well as interpreting electrical drawings and schematics to aid in troubleshooting.</li>
<li>Demonstrated commitment to job‑site safety.</li>
<li>Strong hands‑on ability with tools, instruments, and alignment/measurement devices.</li></ul><br>

<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Desired Skills</b></h2>
<ul><li>Experience with AutoCAD&reg;, AutoCAD Electrical, Windows, and MS Office.</li>
</ul><ul><li>PLC and motion control experience: Beckhoff, B&amp;R, Allen-Bradley, PC‑based systems.</li>
<li>Knowledge of NEC/NFPA70/OSHA compliance. Manufacturing and/or construction environment experience with strong safety orientation.</li>
<li>SCADA/HMI development, PID control theory, and electro‑mechanical systems understanding.</li></ul><br>

Travel Requirements</b></h2>
<ul><li>Typical travel can range from a few days to a few weeks during the project initiation phase. During the deployment phase of the project, travel may be full-time.</li>
<li>Travel will be required to Corning Optical Fiber and Cable Manufacturing sites in North Carolina and potentially international.</li></ul><br>

</p><p>The range for this position is $88,522 - $145,230 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.</p><p><b><br>

<div><p>The Emerging Innovations Program and Business Development Manager will lead a team of highly skilled technical, commercial, and manufacturing SMEs and work closely with partners to solve problems and build profitable new automotive growth businesses from innovations in glass, ceramics, and other materials. This requires setting objectives, building a team, making plans, and leading the team to accomplish all key commercial, technology, product development, business development, and manufacturing objectives. Special emphasis will be placed on accelerating NPI and scaling to production new technologies for glass IR optics material and component production. Ultimately, the individual will lead the team to produce, sell, and scale a first of a kind Corning product for an exciting new automotive application.</p>

<li>Strong communication skills to coordinate and reach alignment across functional boundaries</li>
<li>Experience introducing and creating customer buy-in for new technologies and their value proposition</li>
<li>Ability to operate effectively in environment with significant complexity and ambiguity</li>
