JUVENILE PROBATION OFFICER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Juvenile Probation Officer supervises juvenile offenders who fall under the jurisdiction of the court. The position is responsible for the preparation of reports and recommendations to be considered judicially regarding placement, treatment and conditions of probation. These duties include court appearances and offender visits. Conduct juvenile case intake and assessments. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Appear in Court to present testimony on Case Treatment plans, probation violations, pre-trials, adjudications and disposition hearings.</li><li>
Assemble, prepare, update, and implement Case Treatment Plans utilizing all available resources; present Case Treatment Plan summaries during Court proceedings.</li><li>
Conduct home visits, school visits and monitor the behavior of the offender.</li><li>
Transport juvenile offenders to appointments, hearings and other destinations as required.</li><li>
Interact with other agencies (e.g. law enforcement, DHS, schools, etc.) to ensure that the mode of rehabilitation is utilizing all resources.</li><li>
Maintain contact with juvenile offenders and monitor behavior and compliance with probation rules e.g. collecting restitution and other fees as owed due to Court Order.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Juvenile Court Administrator.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, criminal justice, a related human service field, or a related field that qualifies the person to manage or supervise the delivery of juvenile services.</li><li>
Considerable knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the behavioral sciences.</li><li>
Knowledge of laws and regulations governing juvenile probation work.</li><li>
Ability to work with adolescents and their families.</li><li>
Ability to counsel juvenile wards.</li><li>
Two years of casework experience in juvenile court or a related child welfare agency.</li><li>
Knowledge and understanding of Evidence-Based Practices in the juvenile court setting.</li><li>
Writing, reading, mathematical principles; proficient computer skills-Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook; exercise sound judgment and decision making in accordance with policies and procedures; ability to research and problem solve independently; knowledge of County operations and functions; ability to prioritize and time manage; handle stressful situations, provide effective and friendly customer service; support the County's mission and values; ability to think critically where necessary.
</li><li>Knowledge or understanding of basic administrative tasks: operate standard office equipment; document management; prepare and maintain records, various correspondences and reports; answer general inquiries and refer as necessary; answer telephone calls, process mail, order supplies/equipment; prepare meeting agendas, attend meetings, record/transcribe/distribute minutes; entering, transcribing, recording, storing or maintaining information in written or electronic form with speed and accuracy; maintain calendars, arrange meetings, schedule rooms and equipment as necessary.

</li></ul>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:<ul><li>
Prior to starting employment, the candidate must complete a satisfactory background check. The background check is understood to encompass all forms of pre-employment screening, including but not limited to: drug screen, physical, criminal background, driving record, sex offender registry, education, training and licensing verification, employment history, credit check, and professional and personal references.</li><li>
Must possess a valid State of Michigan operator license and maintain this license throughout employment in this position.</li><li>

Must complete the Michigan Judicial Institute certification training for juvenile court staff within two years after date of employment.</li></ul>

<div>PERSONAL CARE AIDE
General Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Programs Director, provides personal care services to elderly County residents to help keep the client in their home environment. Receives and carries out specific directions for individualized personal health care provided by a Public Health Nurse.
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Permits clients to make choices related to their care within the framework of the plan and reports requests outside of the plan of care to the supervisor.</li><li>
Assists with personal care such as bathing, hair care, dressing, shaving, grooming, and personal hygiene tasks.</li><li>
Assists clients with ambulation, range of motion exercises, and other activities.</li><li>
Performs light housekeeping activities in the client&rsquo;s home such as changing beds, dusting, vacuuming, washing dishes, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and doing laundry.</li><li>
Maintains daily client records of personal care services provided and records observations of client&rsquo;s wellbeing.</li><li>
Instructs clients on proper hygiene and encourages the taking of prescribed medications and following other components of care plan.</li><li>
Empties portable toilets, disposes of adult diapers, takes out trash, and performs related tasks to assist clients in daily living activities.</li><li>
Listens to concerns, engages in general conversation with clients, and provides companionship to clients.</li><li>
Reports all issues of concern related to client care, changes in condition, abuse, neglect, and scheduling to the supervisor.</li><li>
Maintains required documentation of personal care services provided.</li><li>
Ensures that clinical documentation regarding clients is kept secure and confidential and maintained consistent with Health Department policies and procedures.</li></ul>

Employment Qualifications
Education: High school graduation, or equivalent experience, and successful completion of a nurse&rsquo;s aide course provided through a vocational, technical other recognized education program.
Experience: Entry level position. Three-month break-in period. Prefer one year of experience as a nurse&rsquo;s aide.
Qualifications:
Skilled in CNA training to give showers and baths.
Knowledge of housework, including cleaning the kitchen, doing dishes, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming.
Skilled in cooking.
Ability to provide companionship.
Other Requirements: Possession of a valid Michigan driver&rsquo;s license. Prefer Michigan long term certification or home health aide experience.
