Job Description: 
 
This position is a Master-level Technician who provides a high skill level for accurate vehicle maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles with a focus on exceptional customer satisfaction in a cost-effective manner. A Technician may work independently or in a team environment. 
 
Job Responsibilities: 
 
Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies. Perform light and major repairs. Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics. Will have direct interaction with customers and display exceptional interpersonal skills while driving service center&rsquo;s performance with the highest integrity and trust. 
 
Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, and drive line components, etc. 
 
May maintain/repair equipment. (Cable trailers, laptop docking stations, etc.) 
 
Keep shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations. 
 
Create and maintains vehicle history and maintenance records. May up-fit new vehicles with necessary equipment. 
 
Performs more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, design, and fabrication. 
 
Assures prompt repairs by interfacing and coordinating with vendors for parts and repairs. May perform roadside assistance as needed. 
 
Provides custom equipment when needed by engaging in equipment design and moderate fabrication tasks including welding. 
 
Assures availability of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems, generators and electrical systems, hybrids, and on-board computer systems. 
 
Responsible for the efficient diagnosis, repair, and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories. A Technician III will conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs; including but not limited to brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety and emissions testing, maintenance services, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics. 
 
Has medium/heavy truck experience, booms/hydraulics, electrical, any complex repairs, design, and fabrication. 
 
Skilled on diesel and transmission repairs. 
 
Will possess advanced knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve complex repairs. 
 
Master level Technicians must be skilled and able to work on multiple applications, from Light-Duty to Class A-Heavy Trucks, Mechanical Equipment, Machinery, Passenger Vehicles, and more. 
 
Perform other duties as assigned by management. 
 
Job Qualifications:</div>
<ul><li>High School Diploma/GED and 5 years&rsquo; experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years&rsquo; experience; or 7 years&rsquo; experience in a related field.
</li><li>Currently possess or be able to attain Master Level ASE certification preferred.</li>
<li>Must continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status and to meet with technology and fleet changes as they occur.</li>
<li>Safe drivers needed; valid driver&rsquo;s license required. Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver&rsquo;s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.</li>
<li>Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.</li>
<li>Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.</li>
<li>Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently.</li>
<li>Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.</li>
<li>Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.</li>
<li>Must be detail oriented.</li>
<li>Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds (tools, equipment).</li>
<li>Transmission experience preferred.</li>
<li>Diesel experience preferred.</li>
<li>Master level Technicians must be versed to work on multiple application from Light-Duty to Class A-Heavy Trucks, Mechanical Equipment, Machinery, Passenger Vehicles, and more.</li>
<li>Requires extensive training and certification accompanied with a preferred 5-10 years of hands-on diesel repair experience.</li>
<li>Must have a working knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements for medium and heavy truck applications.</li>
<li>Must be able to obtain Class A or B Operator&rsquo;s License if required.</li>
<li>A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.</li>

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician II.
 
 
The Mobile Diesel Technician II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II. Considered the Lead on jobsites by customers and Technicians. Functions as a consultant on the customer's behalf. A successful Mobile Diesel Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.
 
 
DUTIES:
</div><ul><li>Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (&ldquo;PM&rdquo;), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
</li><li>Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
</li><li>Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
</li><li>Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
</li><li>Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure that they are working properly.
</li><li>Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
</li><li>Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
</li><li>Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle.
</li><li>Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations.
</li><li>Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.
</li><li>Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
</li><li>Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (&ldquo;RO&rdquo;) using company-issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.
</li><li>Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in timely fashion.
</li><li>Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
</li><li>Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
</li><li>Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs to be performed.
</li><li>Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes.
</li><li>Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
</li><li>Maintain company issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.</li> 
</ul>

REQUIREMENTS:

<li>This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation&rsquo;s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
</li><li>A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.</li>
