 We are seeking an expert, highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Development or Process Engineer Scientist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the innovation, development, and manufacturing of a wide range of nutritional food and supplement products. The role will lead the design, qualification, and optimization of manufacturing process for commercial production, manufacturability assessment, and evaluation of product performance and stability through appropriately designed pilot and production trials. Additional responsibilities include raw material selection and qualification, formula specification development conducting root cause analysis and resolving technical issues related to product and process performance; and driving technology innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that offer impactful improvements or competitive advantage for our products.
 
 
 The position collaborates routinely with company global cross functional teams including Quality, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Project Management and Supply Chain as well as raw material suppliers and contract manufacturing sites to ensure timely product launches, smooth commercial production, and compliance with quality and regulatory standards as well as on target profit margin. The scientist must have shown technical experience in nutritional product formulation and production, good collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform under a multi-layered environment with goals and objectives in constant evolution.
 
 
 
 HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

 Own the data-driven design, evaluation, qualification and optimization of company nutritional product formula and production processes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Conduct manufacturability assessment for product innovation prototyping.
 </li>
 <li>
 Design and conduct robust feasibility and manufacturability trials to support new product development and/or optimization of existing formulas to meet the commercial and regulatory needs at target market.
 </li>

 Identify new ingredients and delivery technologies to support impactful product innovation and formula optimization.
 </li>

 Drive continuous improvement initiatives and explore manufacturing technologies for product manufacturing to optimize operational efficiency and quality.

 Apply statistical tools proficiently to evaluate formula and process performance and implement required changes.
 </li>

 Effectively communicate in a cross-team environment as a technical SME in formulation and manufacturing technology.
 </li>
 <li>
 Conduct data-based root cause analysis and resolve technical issues related to manufacturing equipment, processes, and product formulas.
 </li>

 Provide effective technical training and mentorship to junior team members.

Sr. Research Scientist Product and Process Development

 As our Food Scientist you will be responsible for leading meat product development (beef, pork, poultry), plant-based protein, and hummus/dips/spreads product development, develop new formulas, processing procedures and specifications for new products, product enhancements and cost reductions.
 
 
 
 What You Will Be Doing&hellip;
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Lead multiple development projects with an emphasis on meat protein, plant-based protein and sauces, both new products and improvements of current products.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assume technical leadership of assigned projects from concept development through successful commercialization. Recommend new product concepts to take to development.
 </li>
 <li>
 Investigate product and process challenges, provide creative solutions, and solve challenges in development and commercialization.
 </li>
 <li>
 Work cross functionally (Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Purchasing) to determine equipment, materials and processes necessary to produce products to maximize capacity and optimize quality and differentiation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Identify and complete technical study of ingredients, suppliers, co-packers relevant to meeting project objectives and company standards.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assure technically sound sensory panels are conducted for product development, shelf-life studies, improving/maintaining present products and competitive testing.
 </li>

 Produce and review daily production reports for schedule adherence, efficiencies, and other data.
 </li>

 Mid-sized chemical manufacturer in the greater Chicagoland area is seeking a bachelor&rsquo;s degree chemist who has a minimum of 4 years of experience formulating coatings or inks for a chemical manufacturer. The company is growing and striving towards more innovation!
 
 
 The chemist independently conducts research, analysis and experimentation to develop ink, paint, and other chemical product formulations. This is a hands-on position with significant time spent at the lab bench along with associated administrative duties related to product development. This position also interacts with personnel in quality control, manufacturing, product management and sales to support the existing product lines. Projects: 1-2 long term and some maintenance of business, pushing for innovation! In the lab: There are 2 full time chemists and 2 QC people and 2 QA people.
 
 
 
 Duties:

 Develop / invent new products in line with company goals and objectives.

 Work closely with sales and product management to develop products meeting end user cost, performance, and color requirements.

 Trouble shoots chemical related production problems in conjunction with the plant supervisory personnel.
