Job Description:
<p>
The S&amp;S Operations Underwriting Assistant will support the business strategies and activities of the underwriting departments at the Manager&rsquo;s directive.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
What you will do for C&amp;F:</b></p><p></p><p><b><br>
Provide underwriting with pre-quote transaction support, including but not limited to</b>:</p><ul><li>
Validate data entry into underwriting workbooks and systems, such as auto classification, GL classification, schedule of underlying, and losses.</li><li>
Assist in the verification of proper documentation regarding coverage and limits prior to completing transactions.</li><li>
Communicate, as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Assume responsibility for completion of the transaction after underwriting binds an account, including but not limited to</b>:</p><ul><li>
Review and process bind orders, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate prior to policy issuance.</li><li>
Utilize various internal systems to complete policy drafting, verify data accuracy of drafted policy, approve policy drafts within authority, set-up within our internal electronic document management system, and follow-up for underwriter approval for accounts outside authority.</li><li>
Complete booking of premium within appropriate system, and confirm premium posted properly.</li><li>
Issue approved policies, perform review of underlying policies, report policy data to third party reporting agencies such as the Workers Compensation bureaus and the Department of Motor Vehicles, and resolve criticisms from those reporting agencies in a timely manner.</li><li>
Process post-bind transactions, including subjectivity and inspection follow-up, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.</li></ul><p></p><div><b><br>
Contribute to the Crum &amp; Forster team environment and continuous improvement philosophy</b>:</div><ul><li>
Communicate and collaborate with other departments within the corporation to answer policy questions, resolve issues, and identify ways to streamline processes.</li><li>
Review and report on monthly Pended Transaction Report and Un-mailed report by Profit Center.</li><li>
Sustain cross-training capabilities for other Profit Centers to support production needs.</li><li>

With deep knowledge of company tools, rating methods and business unit goals, this individual serves as the backbone of the underwriting team facilitating efficient workflow to ensure internal and external deadlines are duly met. Knowledge of state rules a plus. With a strong ability to face externally and manage agency communication effectively. This individual truly helps create capacity on the underwriter&rsquo;s desk by taking on various tasks, both process and underwriting related.</div><div><br>
</div><div>Competent in all phases of the following areas: Business Unit specific product lines and coverage, knowledge of underwriting support processes/procedures/workflow, and awareness of local Business Unit Strategy. In addition: manages relationships with agents &amp; wholesalers, as well as peers and business partners. This position may need to be available for agency visits. Responsible for managing assigned work, and resolving potentially conflicting priorities in collaboration with their leader.</div><div></div><div><b><br>

Partners with Underwriters to establish support needs for renewals and/or new business policies (i.e., identify/gather relevant account information to quote and/or bind the policy; create exhibits, etc.).
</li><li>Prepares documents and participate in pre-renewal meetings.
</li><li>Prepares underwriting/pricing exhibits (i.e., exposures, experience rating, profit and loss analysis, expense models, triage, updated account information, etc.).
</li><li>Manages account documentation (i.e., proposals, agreement letters, reinsurance contracts, collateral agreements, policy change, endorsements, cancellations, etc.).
</li><li>Ensures accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts.
</li><li>Communicates with brokers/agencies, wholesalers, and internal departments. (i.e., researches and resolves issues, responds to inquiries and questions).</li><li>
Coordinate with Operations Specialist to update internal systems and complete rating.</li><li>
Prepare quotes for UW by reviewing exposures and experience rating, updating account information, rates and adjusts the price, as requested.
</li><li>May complete renewals based on formal guidelines, commonly referred to as &quot;Letter of Authority.&quot;
</li><li>Provides information for regulatory compliance (i.e., statutory filings, proof of insurance, certificates).

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for analysis and documentation of business and system requirements that enable efficient, high-quality delivery of technological solutions. This role focuses on systems, workflows, and analysis while producing story-level requirements, workflow design and documentation, detailed specifications, data validation, and UAT preparation.
