POSITION SUMMARY

During this externship, students will have the opportunity to work within the Marketing &amp; Communications team at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) where they will gain exposure to Social Media &amp; Content Marketing for food and hospitality. In this position, we hope to further develop student&rsquo;s business acumen, giving them real-life exposure to the rapidly growing food marketing industry. 


 ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Gain an understanding of social media &amp; marketing strategies, including a social media marketing plan.</li>
<li>Create and refine brand image and architecture through exposure to business decision-making processes, leveraging analytics and strategic risk-taking.</li>
<li>Create multi-media content (photos, videos, and graphics) to post to the CIA&rsquo;s social media and track analytics.</li>
<li>Observe and participate in community engagement, including responding to social media comments and messages with guidance.</li>
<li>Update restaurant menus on the CIA&rsquo;s website. Learn, create and execute marketing campaigns, paid media campaigns, utilizing analytics and loyalty marketing.</li>
<li>Learn how to build, set, and utilize an editorial calendar.</li>
<li>Develop photography and video imaging skills.</li>
<li>Any and all other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
<ul>
<li>Current CIA student, pre-Extern.</li>
</ul>
Experience:
<ul>
<li>Previous Social Media experience.</li></ul> 


 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Passion for social media.</li>
<li>Experience with Earn &amp; Learn and personal social media channels.</li></ul> 


REQUIRED SKILLS

<li>Excellent written, verbal communication and strong presentation skills required.</li>
<li>Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.</li>
<li>Exceptional organizational skills.</li>

<li>Strong computer experience in MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.</li>
<li>Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.</li></ul> 


 WORKING CONDITIONS

<li>Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.</li>
<li>Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.</li>
<li>Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.</li></ul></div>

Social Media Extern

<div>The hiring rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Bartender is accountable for providing quality food and beverage service to all customers while ensuring all practices, equipment and inventory are properly maintained. The Lead Bartender is responsible for the efficient and effective execution of all warehouse and bar activities daily, including but not limited to, the receipt, storage, staging and movement of inventory as well as the preparation and service of beverages as directed by restaurant management as designated. 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

<ul>
<li>Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to patrons of restaurants, following standard recipes.</li>
<li>Provides table service to patrons at the bar and in the restaurant.</li>
<li>Assists students, staff and student hires in accurate Point of Sale (POS) procedures.</li>
<li>Creates and tests new cocktails and mocktails for all restaurants.</li>
<li>Participates in student cocktail projects giving advice and guidance during the creation process and provides constructive criticism of finished projects.</li>
<li>Provides suggestions of beverages to guests, servers and students.</li>
<li>Responsible for all prep and side work at the bar and maintaining proper inventories.</li>
<li>Assists in training new bartenders for the department.</li>
<li>Responsible for following defined storeroom and bar workflow processes.</li>
<li>Receives incoming shipments for the warehouse and the bars; verifies that items and quantities match purchase orders and requisitions and reports shipment discrepancies to restaurant management.</li>
<li>Labels and stores received material(s) as directed. Stores inventory safely and in compliance with established standards.</li>
<li>Uses the inventory software; EATEC, and equipment as required in the documentation of product movement from the warehouse.</li>
<li>Conducts periodic inventory cycle counts, and physical inventories as directed.</li>
<li>Prepares for and participates in audits.</li>
<li>Follows all cash handling procedures if and when necessary.</li>
<li>Ensures that physical security barriers, such as doors, cabinets, etc., are secure at all times.</li>
<li>Keeps warehouse and bar spaces clean and walkways/aisles clear of materials or refuse.</li>
<li>Bartends and/or serves in other Restaurants as dictated by business needs of the departments.</li>
<li>Any and all other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or GED required.</li>
</ul>
Experience: 

<ul>
<li>Minimum one (1) year of experience preparing cocktails, maintaining wine and liquor inventory and cash handling in a fine dining establishment.</li></ul> 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

<ul>
<li>MICROS POS experience.</li>
<li>TIPS Certification.</li></ul>

WORKING CONDITIONS

<li>Must be able to work overtime on nights and weekends as required by business needs.</li>
<li>Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.</li>
<li>Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time during customary service hours.</li>
<li>Dexterity to maneuver in small spaces with repetitive crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting and reaching.</li></ul></div>
