<p>As a <b>Senior Data Engineer</b> supporting USTRANSCOM, you will help analyze and interpret complex data from the Joint Petroleum Enterprise (JPE) to uncover actionable insights, build predictive models, and develop visualizations that inform mission critical decisions. Your work will contribute to improving the Global Common Operating Picture and other critical bulk fuel information systems that support Department of Defense operations worldwide.</p>
<div><b>What You Will Do</b><br>
<ul><li>Perform exploratory data analysis and <b>build predictive models </b>to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimize logistics within the Joint Petroleum Enterprise</li><li>Translate complex findings into actionable recommendations through reports, dashboards, and presentations for operational stakeholders</li><li>Collaborate with engineers and analysts to access and<b> prepare data from platforms such as Databricks</b> and Palantir Ontology</li><li>Analyze Joint Petroleum Enterprise datasets to identify opportunities for deeper analysis and operational insight</li><li>Assist in defining data requirements for ingestion and API development to ensure datasets are usable for analytics and operational decision making</li><li>Participate in working groups and stakeholder meetings to support data driven strategies and tool selection</li><li>Support governance boards and senior leader briefings for USTRANSCOM, the Joint Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense</li><li>Complete ad hoc analytical projects supporting Global Bulk Fuel Management and Delivery initiatives</li></ul></div>
<div><b>What We Are Looking For</b><br>
<i>Required:</i><br>
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or a related field</li><li>8+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role</li><li>Strong proficiency in SQL and Python</li><li>Experience developing data pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar technologies</li><li>Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud</li><li>Experience working with Databricks or Lakehouse architectures</li><li>Ability to travel within CONUS approximately ten percent of the time</li></ul></div>
<div><i>Desired:</i><br>
<ul><li>Experience working with Palantir Ontology</li><li>Experience with <b>data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques</b></li><li>Experience with machine learning frameworks</li><li>Experience with API development and RESTful web services</li><li>Experience with Maven Smart Systems or similar platforms</li><li>Experience supporting DoD, DLA, or USTRANSCOM programs</li><li>Ability to work in a fast paced, agile environment and quickly learn new technologies</li></ul></div>
