Job Summary</b><br>
The Prescription Refill Coordinator will process all patient medication refill requests and prior authorizations.<br>
<b>Supervisory Responsibilities: </b>None<br>
<b>Essential Duties/Responsibilities</b></div></div><ul><li><div>
Answer calls regarding medication refills from patients and pharmacies</div></li><li><div>
Investigate the status of medication refills</div></li><li><div>
Educate patients regarding DAP Health medication refill policies and procedures</div></li><li><div>
Provide outstanding customer service to patients and pharmacy staff to ensure a positive image for DAP Health</div></li><li><div>
Ensure accuracy in documenting medication refills within patients&rsquo; medical record</div></li><li><div>
Check fax machines for patient medication refill requests faxed from pharmacies</div></li><li><div>
Retrieve phone messages from dedicated phones for medication refill requests</div></li><li><div>
Present refill requests to the provider in a timely manner</div></li><li><div>
Fax back signed medication refill requests to the identified pharmacies</div></li><li><div>
Scan faxed signed document into patient&rsquo;s chart</div></li><li><div>
Document refill in patient&rsquo;s chart</div></li><li><div>
Notify patient of denied refill requests</div></li><li><div>
Prepare prior authorizations for intake medications per doctor&rsquo;s orders</div></li><li><div>
Prepare prior authorizations for newborns special formula per doctor&rsquo;s orders</div></li><li><div>
As a Medical Assistants responsible for knowing their scope of practice</div></li><li><div>
Maintain compliance with DAP Health&rsquo;s policies and procedure and promotes a team environment</div></li><li><div>
Participate in conferences, seminars, and training sessions as needed</div></li><li><div>
Perform other duties as assigned</div></li></ul><div><div><b>
Required Skills/Abilities</b></div></div><ul><li><div>
Effective communication with patients and coworkers; ability to work as a team member</div></li><li><div>
Effective interpersonal skills</div></li><li><div>
Bilingual in Spanish/English or other language preferred</div></li><li><div>
Proficient in electronic health records - EPIC preferred</div></li><li><div>
Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills</div></li></ul><div><div><b>
Education and Experience</b></div></div><ul><li><div>
Medical assistant certificate or signed training on venipuncture, infectious control, patient privacy, basic anatomy and physiology by Registered Nurse or Physician</div></li><li><div>
Two-year medical assistant work experience</div></li><li><div>
Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross</div></li></ul><div><div><b>
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements</b></div></div><ul><li><div>
This position is on-site at a DAP Health Clinic</div></li><li><div>
Able to lift/move up to 40 pounds, move from place to place, and stand for long periods of time</div></li><li><div>
Requires current and valid driver&rsquo;s license and current personal auto insurance as well as reliable transportation</div></li><li><div>
Able to travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and the Coachella Valley toprovide staffing support and off-site training/meetings</div></li><li><div>
Available for all shifts and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends</div></li></ul></div>
