Job Summary: The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of the winery's buildings, grounds, and equipment located in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This part-time role ensures a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for staff, visitors, and wine production, while upholding the unique character of our mountain winery.Key Responsibilities:Maintenance &amp; Repair:<ul><li>Oversee and perform routine maintenance and repairs of all winery facilities, including production buildings, tasting room, offices, and residential structures.</li><li>Manage and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all critical winery equipment (tanks, pumps, presses, filters, bottling line components, chillers, boilers, HVAC systems) to minimize downtime.</li><li>Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues.</li><li>Coordinate and oversee external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, vineyard infrastructure, security systems).</li></ul>Grounds &amp; Infrastructure:<ul><li>Maintain winery grounds, including landscaping, roads, pathways, and drainage systems, ensuring cleanliness and accessibility.</li><li>Oversee the upkeep of vineyard infrastructure not directly related to viticulture (e.g., fencing, irrigation mains, utility connections).</li><li>Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.</li><li>Perform routine and preventative maintenance of all winery facilities to include but not limited to: Cellar equipment - pumps, hoses, valves &amp; fittings, storage racks, filters, centrifuges, cross flow; Crush equipment - de-stemmers, pumps, presses, conveyors, and hoists.</li></ul>Safety &amp; Compliance:<ul><li>Develop, implement, and enforce facility safety programs and procedures in compliance with OSHA, local fire codes, food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMPs), and other relevant regulatory bodies.</li><li>Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure all equipment and facilities meet safety standards.</li><li>Manage emergency preparedness plans and procedures (e.g., fire, earthquake, power outages).</li><li>Ensure all necessary permits and licenses related to facilities operation are current and maintained.</li></ul>Operational Support:<ul><li>Assist with facility setup and breakdown for winery events.</li><li>Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts.</li><li>Provide support for various winery operations as needed.</li></ul>Budget &amp; Administration:<ul><li>Assist in the development and management of the facilities budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and service contracts.</li></ul>Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or GED required. Vocational training or certification in a relevant trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems) preferred.Experience:<ul><li>Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, property management, or a related field, with a strong preference for experience in a winery, brewery, food production, or agricultural environment.</li><li>Proven experience with preventative maintenance programs and managing external contractors.</li></ul>Skills:<ul><li>Strong hands-on technical skills in general maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repair.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety guidelines.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively for a part-time schedule.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively with winery staff.</li><li>Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices specific to a production environment.</li><li>Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets for tracking).</li></ul>Preferred Skills<ul><li>English and Spanish</li><li>Strong understanding of refrigeration processes and equipment (Glycol and/or Ammonia) RETA certification preferred.</li><li>&bull; Sound electrical understanding and troubleshooting skills - 3-phase power distribution and motors; Control circuits (2-wire, 3-wire, holding circuits); Control components (Push-buttons, photo-electric switches, limit switches, relays, contactors &amp; V.F.D.s); PLC's and Ladder logic diagrams.</li><li>Welding skills - TIG &amp; MIG, and/or sanitary welding.</li></ul>Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.</li><li>Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.</li><li>Comfortable working in a winery environment which may include exposure to loud noises, chemicals, and extreme temperatures (hot and cold).</li><li>Must possess a valid California Driver's License and have a clean driving record.</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hourExpected hours: 24 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>Los Gatos, CA 95033 (Preferred)</li></ul>Ability to Relocate:<ul><li>Los Gatos, CA 95033: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
