POSITION TITLE: Teacher - Special Education

QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>Minimum B.S. Degree</li>
<li>Certification in Special Education</li>
<li>Working knowledge of computer and student information software</li>
</ul>
REPORTS TO:
<ul><li>Principal or Principal's designee / Special Education Coordinator</li>
</ul>
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Determine individual and class needs.</li>
<li>Supervises students</li>
<li>Establish objectives and plan learning experiences.</li>
<li>Implement activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.</li>
<li>Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.</li>
<li>Exhibit positive human relations skills.</li>
<li>Evaluate the educational program and/or student progress.</li>
<li>Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues and community groups.</li>
<li>Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication.</li>
<li>Maintains and submit records and reports.</li>
<li>Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.</li>
<li>Engage in personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.</li>
<li>The planning and conduct of daily learning activities within the classroom as defined by the State Course of Study and the Board of Education.</li>
<li>Shall perform any other job or school related duties as assigned by the Principal or Supervisor.</li>
<li>Maintain the confidentiality of student records.</li>
</ul>
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
<ul><li>Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current applicable salary schedule.</li>
</ul>
EVALUATION:
<ul>
<li>Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board&rsquo;s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.</li>

<li>Meets requirements set forth by federal regulations.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of computers and software.</li>

<li>Principal or Principal's designee</li>
