Special Education (DCD) Teacher, Long Term Substitute - Delano High School</b></div><br>

<div>Delano High School is looking for a dedicated professional with a focus on student achievement and reflective growth to assist our team as a special education teacher. The successful candidate will make a positive contribution to improving student academic and social/emotional behaviors in support of our mission. The successful candidate will teach sections of study skills, social skills, functional academic skills and functional life skills to 7-12th grade students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Other courses may be taught as determined by the needs of students.<br>

<b>POSITION DETAILS:</b></div><br>
<div><b>Location:</b> Delano High School<br>
<b>Hours:</b> 8 hours/day (7:30 to 3:30)<br>
<b>Anticipated Start Date / Duration:</b> 12 weeks starting on January 5, 2026 (specific dates are subject to change slightly)<br>
<b>Salary:</b> $261.98/day</div><br>
<div><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b></div><br>
<ul><li>Collaborate with school and district staff to acquire and/or create a highly effective and rigorous curriculum.</li>
<li>Effectively create and deliver daily lessons and provide needed support for students to achieve learning objectives and broader learning goals.</li>
<li>Maintain and report accurate student attendance and performance records</li>
<li>Collaborate effectively with school and district staff as part of a department team and other leadership committees.</li>
<li>Effectively deploy classroom management strategies in support of positive school and classroom culture and climate</li>
<li>Uses flexible thinking and has the adaptability to address student needs and respond calmly during crisis situations.</li>
<li>Provide instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff including creating and assigning activities, instructional oversight and providing general guidance.</li>
<li>Communicate with parents in a timely manner. Maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents, and community.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with parents and other staff members to reinforce the educational program and advocate for each student.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations.</li>
<li>Ability to adhere to due process timelines and complete individualized education plan and evaluation paperwork to guide educational programming</li>
<li>Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide effective teaching strategies while adhering to the district philosophy and vision.</li>
<li>Create a classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners.</li>
<li>Translate lesson plans into learning experience in a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by the building principal.</li></ul><br>
<div><b>QUALIFICATIONS</b></div><br>
<div><b>Required:</b></div><br>
<ul><li>An appropriate MN professional teaching license (K-12 DCD or K-12 ABS) or the ability to attain one.</li>
