 Individual is responsible for providing administrative support to the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney’s in the Juvenile Division. Physical presence is necessary in the office. Regular, predictable and prompt attendance is needed.
 
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
 Educational and Licensing requirements: High School diploma or GED required.Two (2) years related work experience, preferably in a local governmental office. Notary Public, willing to obtain within a year of employment.Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.Critical skills/expertise: Knowledge of the Delaware County Criminal Justice System.Demonstrates integrity and reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Knowledge of the Ohio Revised Code, criminal case law, and criminal procedure.Ability to deal with many variables, define and solve problems, collect, analyze and interpret data, establish facts and determine specific action, evaluate and improve process and/or program efficiency/effectiveness.Ability to work with clients who may be upset, distraught, irate, emotionally or mentally or otherwise unable to function within reasonable range of constructive behaviors.Ability to work independently as well as work as part of a coordinated team of professionals, under pressure, and to set and achieve goals.Ability to organize and maintain large volumes of information and paperwork.Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures and governmental codes.Superior interpersonal skills, and aptitude for developing and maintaining effective working relationships through teamwork and cooperation with supervisors, subordinates, employees and the general public.Equipment: Ability to operate normal office equipment such as computer, copier, faxmachine, telephone, calculator, paper shredder, motor vehicle, and other equipment necessary to perform duties. Good understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) and Internet (Explorer and Chrome).
 
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
 Individual reports directly to the Juvenile Supervising Attorney, Executive Administrator and the Prosecuting Attorney. The individual exercises independent judgment with direction.

Legal Administrative Assistant

JOB
 Individual is an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Individual is responsible for advising clients of the Prosecuting Attorney on civil matters occurring in and affecting county government and/or township government. Advises clients on a variety of legal and business matters, including, but not limited to, contracts, land use, zoning, purchasing, competitive bidding, employment law, public records, open meetings, real estate, taxation, development, procedure, construction law, election and levy law, and other issues affecting the Prosecuting Attorney’s clients. Performs legal research. Drafts opinions and memos on legal issues affecting the Prosecuting Attorney’s clients. Litigation of all civil matters on behalf of the Prosecuting Attorney’s clients, as both plaintiff and defendant, before state and federal courts. Prosecution of foreclosures. Preparing appellate briefs and other documents for appeals of civil actions before all levels of appellate courts and orally argue those legal matters whenever necessary. Preparation for and orally argue appealed actions. Representation of clients of the Prosecuting Attorney before various local, state, and/or federal administrative agencies and boards. Physical presence is necessary in the office. Regular, predictable and prompt attendance is needed.

 Juris Doctor (JD)Admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.

 Critical skills/expertise: Thorough knowledge of Ohio civil statutes, case law, and procedure.Basic knowledge of the structure of Ohio government and its political subdivisions.Good trial and oral advocacy skills, including jury selection, authentication of documents and physical evidence, examination and cross-examination of witnesses, and argument to bench and jury.Good electronic and book legal research.Excellent legal research and writing skills.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Ability to manage and direct a large, complex case load under the direction of the Prosecuting Attorney.Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with other people possessed of widely varied levels of education and competence.Good public speaking skills.Demonstrates integrity, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to evaluate risks and exercise sound judgment, making decisions in complex and sometimes ambiguous situations that carry major implications for the people of Delaware County and/or Townships located in Delaware County.Ability to work under pressure.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work as a part of a team.Ability to capably interact with co-workers and other members of various departments and agencies.Reporting: Individual reports directly to the Chief of the Civil Division, Executive Administrator and the Prosecuting Attorney.
