<p>An incumbent is responsible for conducting and/or teaching workshops, seminars and/or courses, evaluating participants, and developing and implementing curricula. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for providing individual tutoring, advisement, and/or counseling services to the Workforce Development and Community Education Division participants/students, as well as providing support for division activities.</p><br>

<div><div><b>Nature and Scope</b></div>
<p>An incumbent typically reports to an appropriate Workforce Development and Community Education supervisor/administrator. Duties include a variety of accountabilities pertaining to planning, organizing, and conducting workshops, seminars, and/or courses, and providing tutoring, advisement, and/or counseling services to Workforce Development and Community Education participants/students. In addition, an incumbent is to assist in other Workforce Development and Community Education activities, e.g., recruitment, job placement, and support services for participants/students, as assigned.</p><br>

<div><div><b>Principal Accountabilities</b></div>
<div><p>An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities:</p>
<p>
1. Conducts and/or teaches workshops, seminars, and/or courses as assigned, utilizing effective communications, classroom/workshop management, leadership, training, and teaching techniques.</p>
<p>
2. Develops new programs, workshops/seminars and/or courses and syllabi. Evaluates programs, courses, workshops/seminars and/or courses, including syllabi, teaching methods, materials, equipment, and facilities; revises existing programs, workshops/seminars and/or courses as assigned.</p>
<p>
3. Selects, maintains, and uses materials, supplies, and equipment required for effective teaching, facilitating, and training.</p>
<p>
4. Maintains adequate participant/student records, including intake test results, and counseling notes; evaluates and reports participants&rsquo; progress and/or attendance. Prepares and submits evaluations as required.</p>
<p>
5. Provides objective advisement and tutoring of participant/students as necessary to assist in successful completion of the program.</p>
<p>
6. Schedules, posts, and maintains office hours to aid in participant&rsquo;s progress.</p>
<p>
7. Works as a team with other faculty and staff to facilitate routine department operations and achieve departmental goals and objectives. Assists in attaining program accreditation.</p>
<p>
8. Participates in departmental/campus/College meetings and serves on committees, as required.</p>
<p>
9. Participates in professional development in-service programs.</p>
<p>
10. Assists as requested in developing proposal/department/program budget, establishing and maintaining effective public relations, and facilitating routine department operations.</p>

11. Assists with extra-curricular client activities as requested.</p>
<p>

<div>An incumbent in this class typically reports to the Dean of Instruction through an Instructional Director, Department Chairperson or Program Coordinator. An incumbent is expected to plan, organize, and instruct in a manner to promote and direct successful student learning in keeping with the College&rsquo;s values and goals.</div>

<div><div><b>Principal Accountabilities</b></div>
<div>An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities as determined by the supervisor:<br>

1. Plans, organizes, and instructs courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor, utilizing effective and engaging instructional strategies, the learning management system (LMS), appropriate communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and instructional/educational technology to promote student success. A regular teaching load for full-time instructors consists of 15 contact hours per week, unless otherwise modified by the Department Chairperson/Dean.<br>
<br>
2. Demonstrates best practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students&rsquo; diverse academic needs.<br>
<br>
3. Uses instructional technology including multimedia to meet students&rsquo; learning needs and achieve the objectives of the academic program/College.<br>
<br>
4. Assists or leads in planning and/or developing new curriculum and courses, as assigned by the Department Chairperson/Dean. Evaluates and revises existing curriculum and courses as part of routine evaluation processes and/or as assigned. Contributes to program review. (applicable to full-time instructors only)<br>
<br>
5. Participates in the planning and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA). (applicable to full-time instructors only)<br>
<br>
6. Serves as an advisor for students, utilizing effective advisement strategies, documenting advising notes in the Student Information System, and leveraging other advisement tools &ndash; including key performance indicators (KPI&rsquo;s) to promote student retention and progression. (applicable to full-time instructors only)<br>
<br>
7. Assists students toward the successful completion of course(s) which the instructor is teaching by providing outreach, guidance, feedback, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and other approved forms of academic support.<br>
<br>
8. Makes oneself accessible and available to assist students. Full-time instructors provide a minimum of six (6) posted student hours per week.<br>
<br>
9. Maintains adequate and timely student records (e.g. grades are posted in the Learning Management System in a timely fashion). Evaluates and reports students&rsquo; progress and attendance in a timely manner.<br>
<br>
10. Works as a team member with other faculty and staff across the College to facilitate College and academic program operations and achieve strategic goals and objectives. Full-time instructors provide guidance to new and adjunct faculty as assigned.<br>
<br>
11. Assists in attaining and maintaining program accreditation. (applicable to full-time instructors only)<br>
<br>
12. Continues professional development/growth and a commitment to continuous improvement as an instructor. Remains current within his/her academic field/discipline.<br>
<br>
13. Participates in departmental/campus/College meetings and serves on campus or collegewide committees. Participates in advisory committee meetings and other College and student-related activities. Full-time instructors advise student clubs and organizations as assigned.<br>
<br>
14. Participates in developing and implementing policies, objectives, and/or functions in accordance with the philosophy of the College. Areas include, but are not limited to departmental program planning, marketing, budget development, and public relations.<br>
<br>
15. Provides support for operations, events, processes that directly enhance recruitment, enrollment/registration, advisement, transfer, and graduate employment, as assigned. Contributes to student success across these areas, ensuring efforts are aligned with the College&rsquo;s mission to support students in completing and transitioning successfully to the workforce and/or further education.<br>
<br>
16. Participates in day, evening, and weekend program staffing, as requested.<br>
<br>
17. Performs other related duties as required.</div>
