The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, City and County of Honolulu, is looking to hire independent contracted Process Servers to serve various legal documents within prescribed parameters of the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney. The ideal applicant should be able to perform job duties professionally and courteously, exhibit high ethical standards, maintain case and witness confidentiality, and operate within the boundaries of the laws of the County of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Physically serves legal process on persons named in legal documents and prepares a &ldquo;proof of service&rdquo; attesting to that action2. Prepares relevant activity commentaries when necessary and claims for payment based on each process served.3. Functions within the standards and guidelines of the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, to include, being professional and courteous, maintains a professional and clean appearance, maintains confidentiality of information derived from that employment, and operates within the boundaries of the state traffic code and in adherence to the laws of the City and County of Honolulu and State of Hawaii.4. Is required to inform the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney of any event which may change or alter the ability of the personal services independent contractor to perform or to remain qualified as a process server, to include availability (principle work scheduling changes), loss of use of vehicle, loss of driver&rsquo;s license, arrest or conviction.5. Is required to immediately disclose to the Chief Investigator or his designate and thereafter obtain prior approval before accepting any outside employment which may constitute an actual or apparent conflict of interest with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney or the process server&rsquo;s assigned duties. This shall specifically include working as a process server or agent for any criminal defense attorney or any civil or administrative law attorney in matters involving the department or its personnel.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. Must be at least (18) years of age.2. Absence of federal, state or local criminal convictions for any of the following:a) Any felony offense;b) Any misdemeanor or petty misdemeanor offense involving death, serious or substantial bodily injury, sexual assault or misconduct, prostitution or solicitation, violent or threatening behavior, criminal property damage, narcotics, gambling, firearms, theft, forgery, false reporting, false swearing, bribery, perjury or hindering prosecution;c) Any offense involving driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs; andd) Any other offense not otherwise specified which in the judgment of the department involves moral turpitude or other conduct which adversely impact upon the applicant&rsquo;s suitability for employment as a process server.3. Must be able to satisfy a standard background check.4. Must have a valid State of Hawaii driver&rsquo;s license.5.
