The Role
This is a Staff-level full-stack product role with a backend-heavy centre of gravity. You'll own complete product slices end-to-end &mdash; things like a candidate database with rich search and filtering, a dashboard that surfaces call transcripts and match history for our Talent Operations team, and the workflows that let them stack-rank candidates against a new role in minutes rather than hours. You ship these without needing to be guided step by step.
You're not a specialist who hands off at the API boundary. You think in user outcomes and delivery units, and you're reliable: your code handles edge cases, your APIs have clean contracts, and the work you ship stays shipped.<div></div> 
What You'll Do<ul><li>
Own product delivery &mdash; take features from spec to production, backend-first but covering frontend and integration where needed</li><li>
Build and maintain backend systems &mdash; product APIs, data pipelines, and core infrastructure on our Python/FastAPI/Postgres stack</li><li>
Build with LLMs and agents &mdash; ship product features with significant LLM integration; contribute to the voice agent backend and information extraction systems</li><li>
Work across the stack &mdash; ship workable React/TypeScript frontend for product features; not a frontend specialist, but comfortable and pragmatic</li><li>
Collaborate with product and design &mdash; translate ambiguous requirements into concrete shipped work; be the engineer who unblocks, not the one who waits</li><li>
Maintain quality at speed &mdash; handle data integrity, error paths, API evolution, and operational concerns as a default, not an afterthought</li></ul><div></div>

The Role</h2>
Dex runs on data. Our matching, our product decisions, our growth, our commercial bets all depend on understanding what's actually happening across the business, and right now that intelligence lives in too many places. This is a founding role to own the data foundation of Dex end to end: the data models underneath everything, the pipelines that connect our systems, and the data platform that the whole company (and our agents) builds on top of.
We use agents for a huge amount of our analytical work, which means the quality of our data layer is a force multiplier. Get it right and every person and every agent at Dex gets faster and sharper. You'll own how data is modelled, how it flows between our systems, and how internal teams self-serve on top of it, building on what's already driving the business rather than starting from a blank page.
As the first dedicated data hire, you'll set the standards and build the function out behind you as Dex grows. It's a chance to define how an AI-native company builds on its data from the ground up, in a market with a real dearth of well-built data foundations. We think there's a generational company to be built in this space, and we believe it's going to be Dex.<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
What You&rsquo;ll Do</h2><ul><li>
Core data modelling: Design and own the core data models that everything else depends on, making them clean, trusted and easy to build on.</li><li>
Modelling at source: Work inside the product and engineering codebase to ensure data is captured and structured correctly from the start, before it ever reaches the warehouse.</li><li>
Pipelines: Build and maintain the pipelines that connect our systems, so data flows through the business correctly and reliably.</li><li>
Self-serve platform: Make the data platform genuinely self-serve, so product, growth, commercial and ops teams (and our agents) can answer their own questions without coming to you.</li><li>
Agents as consumers: Treat agents as first-class consumers of the data layer, structuring data so they can do analytical work accurately and at scale.</li><li>
Metrics that matter: Partner with the team on the metrics that matter, from acquisition and activation through to matching quality and commercial performance.</li><li>
Answers, not just queries: Turn ambiguous business questions into the right data model, the right metric and a clear answer.</li><li>

What we&rsquo;re looking for</h2><ul><li>
You've built the data foundation for a consumer product or marketplace before, and you know what good looks like at scale.</li><li>
You're an engineer and an analyst. You can model and pipe the data, and read what it's telling you about the business.</li><li>
Comfortable reading existing code and finding your way through a codebase you didn't write. You can pick up how a system models and emits its data, and confidently make changes within it.</li><li>
Fluent across a modern analytics stack (a cloud warehouse, a transformation layer, orchestration and BI), with views on what to use when. We're open to changing our current choices and want someone who can tell us where they're right and where they aren't.</li><li>
Commercially and product minded. You care about the metric and the decision it drives, not just the query.</li><li>
You think about the platform, not the one-off answer. You build things other people (and agents) can stand on.</li><li>
