We empower our readers to live better, smarter, and more confidently through high-quality, engaging, and actionable content.We&rsquo;re seeking an experienced Managing Editor to lead our editorial team, shape our content strategy, and ensure every piece of content meets our exacting standards for quality, voice, and performance.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Edit, proofread, and revise articles across all lifestyle verticals (style, fitness, grooming, food &amp; drink, travel, etc.) to ensure clarity, engagement, and alignment with The Manual&rsquo;s editorial standards.</li><li>Optimize all published content for SEO and distribution platforms (Google Discover, Apple News, referral traffic), including keyword strategy, headline crafting, meta data, and mobile-first formatting.</li><li>Uphold and evolve The Manual&rsquo;s distinctive brand voice and style guide across every article.</li><li>Provide constructive feedback to freelance and staff writers, guiding drafts from pitch to publish-ready.</li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, social media, audience development, and commerce teams to align content with business goals and audience growth strategies.</li><li>Contribute to and help execute content strategy that capitalizes on trends while staying true to our mission.</li><li>Oversee regular content refreshes and updates to maintain evergreen relevance and SEO performance.</li><li>Analyze performance data (Google Analytics, Parse.ly, etc.) to inform editorial decisions and future planning.</li><li>Manage the editorial calendar, assign stories, and ensure on-time delivery in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Plan, write, and produce our high-performing email newsletters.</li><li>Own the editorial budget: track spending, review/approve freelancer invoices, and ensure projects stay within scope and financial guidelines.</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Requirements<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).</li><li>5+ years of digital editing experience, ideally in men&rsquo;s lifestyle, culture, or enthusiast publishing.</li><li>Proven track record of editing and optimizing content that ranks well and drives significant traffic.</li><li>Deep understanding of SEO best practices (keyword research, on-page optimization, content structuring for featured snippets, etc.).</li><li>Hands-on experience with analytics platforms (Google Analytics 4, Parse.ly, Chartbeat, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.).</li><li>Proficiency with WordPress (or similar CMS) and basic HTML knowledge a plus.</li><li>Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and thrive under pressure.</li><li>Strong leadership and communication skills; experience managing freelancers or small teams is a strong plus.</li><li>Existing portfolio or published clips showcasing lifestyle editing work required.</li></ul>What We Offer<ul><li>Competitive salary &amp; benefits (health, dental, vision, 401(k), generous PTO)</li><li>Opportunity to shape a leading men&rsquo;s lifestyle brand</li><li>Collaborative, creative, and fast-moving team culture</li></ul>How to Apply Please submit your resume, a brief cover letter explaining why you&rsquo;re the right fit for The Manual, and links to your portfolio or published work samples to hr@digitaltrends.com with the subject line: &quot;Managing Editor, The Manual - [Your Name]&quot;.Applications without portfolio links or samples will not be considered.We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
