Overview The Planner/Buyer is responsible for managing the complete planning and procurement process for assigned product lines &mdash; including production scheduling, material planning, and supplier management. This position ensures that all materials, components, and finished goods are available to meet production schedules and customer demand while maintaining optimal inventory levels and controlling costs. The Planner/Buyer develops and maintains production schedules, issues purchase orders, and monitors supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery and product quality. This role works closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to coordinate production priorities, resolve material or capacity issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to effectively balance production efficiency, inventory control, and supplier performance.Duties<ul><li>Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and capacity constraints.</li><li>Monitor work orders and material availability to prevent production delays and ensure on-time delivery of finished goods.</li><li>Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure manufacturing schedules are realistic and achievable.</li><li>Communicate schedule changes or material shortages to appropriate departments and help identify corrective actions.</li><li>Analyze MRP (Material Requirements Planning) data to determine material and component needs.</li><li>Create and issue purchase orders to suppliers in alignment with production schedules and inventory targets.</li><li>Maintain appropriate inventory levels to balance production continuity with cost efficiency and storage limitations.</li><li>Expedite or delay orders as needed to respond to changing priorities or customer requirements.</li><li>Track and analyze inventory levels to identify shortages, excesses, or slow-moving materials.</li><li>Conduct quarterly supplier reviews.</li><li>Maintain procurement records, reports and metrics.</li><li>Network and negotiate with suppliers for competitive pricing.</li><li>Prepare clear and concise reports and correspondence.</li><li>Liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve planning, scheduling, and procurement processes for greater efficiency and cost savings.</li><li>Performs other duties assigned to support operational goals.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Associate degree in business or supply chain related field with 5 years purchasing experience.</li><li>3&ndash;5 years of experience in materials planning, purchasing, or supply chain management, within a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Experience in production scheduling and coordinating with multiple departments to meet production and customer requirements.</li><li>Experience analyzing demand forecasts, MRP/ERP data, and inventory levels to make informed planning and purchasing decisions.</li><li>Strong knowledge of inventory control methods, lead time management, and materials requirement planning.</li><li>Strong work ethic with ability to work independently and as a team member and leader.</li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.</li><li>Strong oral &amp; written communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.</li><li>Flexible with willingness to learn and develop new skills.</li><li>Professional attitude with ability to prioritize and multi-task with attention to detail.</li><li>Experience in working in an ERP/MRP environment.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.</li><li>Mechanical knowledge preferred.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>401(k) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee assistance program</li><li>Flexible spending account</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Health savings account</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Purchasing: 5 years (Preferred)</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>Oxford, NC 27565 (Required)</li></ul>Ability to Relocate:<ul><li>Oxford, NC 27565: Relocate before starting work (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
