Minimum Education: </b>High School Diploma/GED</p><p><b>
Degree: </b>General</p><p><b>
License/Certification</b><b> Required: </b>BLS required.</p><p><b>
Minimum Work Experience: </b>6 months experience or training required. Nursing assistant, orderly or EMT experience preferred.</p><p></p><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</b></h1><ul><li>
Demonstrates effective communication and service excellence skills.</li></ul><p></p><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></h1><ul><li>
Safely and efficiently transfers patients to and/or from other patient care areas as directed, including patients on oxygen and/or IV therapy.</li><li>
Consistently adheres to safe Infection Control practices.</li><li>
Collects specimens (throat, NP, urine, stool and sputum), labels them accurately and ensures they are sent to lab.</li><li>
Performs patient care procedures as ordered by the RN or MD.</li><li>
Assists with patient care needs and supplies, personal care needs and nourishments.</li><li>
Correctly applies splints and traction as needed; performs crutch fitting and instructs patients/families in crutch walking.</li><li>
Performs correct wound cleaning and dressing under nursing supervision.</li><li>
Assists with examination procedures or treatments. May have access to minimal risk medications.</li><li>
Maintains cleanliness and stock of both clinical and non-clinical areas.</li><li>
Accurately collects patient data under the supervision of the RN.</li><li>
Demonstrates critical thinking and prioritization while placing patients in rooms.</li><li>
Demonstrates professional and effective communication among co-workers and interacts with all patients, staff, volunteers, etc. in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner, as observed by management observation and peer input.</li><li>
Instructs and assists families in a kind and courteous manner and assists other team members as requested within scope of practice and hospital policy.</li><li>
Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly, manner as measured by management observation and peer input.</li><li>
Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably and willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.</li></ul><p></p><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.</b></h1><ul><li>
Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.</li></ul><p></p><p><i>
