<div>Voluntary Paid Firefighter &ndash; Duchesne County (Only paid when called out.)
Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Department Fire Chief and/or the Duchesne County Fire Marshal/Chief, ensuring alignment with county-wide fire management and safety strategies.
Position Overview:
The Firefighter serves as a frontline first responder responsible for protecting life, property, and natural resources throughout Duchesne County. This role requires a strong commitment to public safety, teamwork, and ongoing training.
Core Responsibilities:
Emergency Response: Respond to emergency incidents within assigned jurisdictions and throughout Duchesne County, including but not limited to:<ul><li>
Structural and wildland fires (brush, timber, and range fires)</li><li>
Vehicle accidents and extrications</li><li>
Hazardous materials (Hazmat) incidents</li><li>
Automatic and manual fire alarm activations</li><li>
Natural disasters (flooding, severe weather events)</li><li>
Provide support to EMS and Law Enforcement during multi-agency incidents</li></ul>
Community Protection: Protect lives, community infrastructure, private property, and natural resources across Duchesne County.
Training &amp; Equipment Readiness:<ul><li>
Participate in regular training drills and exercises</li><li>
Maintain required certifications and operational proficiency</li><li>
Ensure all apparatus and equipment are properly maintained and response-ready</li></ul>
Collaboration &amp; Community Engagement:<ul><li>
Work collaboratively with local, state, and federal partners</li><li>
Serve as a key member of the county's integrated emergency response network</li><li>
Support a coordinated and effective response to all emergency situations</li></ul>
Required Qualifications:<ul><li>
Possession of Incident Command System (ICS) certifications 100 and 700</li><li>
Valid driver's license</li><li>
Ability to successfully complete the Arduous Work Capacity Test (Pack Test):</li><li><ul><li>
45 lb vest</li><li>
3-mile walk</li><li>
Completed within 45 minutes</li></ul></li></ul>
Physical Requirements:<ul><li>
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 100&ndash;150+ lbs and drag up to 200 lbs</li><li>
Capable of extensive walking and hiking over rugged terrain, often in remote environments while carrying 50&ndash;75 lbs</li><li>
Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying required</li><li>
Full range of motion and flexibility necessary to perform firefighting and mitigation duties</li><li>
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods (60+ minutes), often in adverse environments</li></ul>
Employment Requirements:<ul><li>
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and pre-employment drug test</li></ul>
