<div><div>Durham Academy (DA) is accepting applications for an Upper School English teacher to begin August 2026. Candidates must hold a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in English; advanced degree and/or commensurate experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of teaching experience in the English classroom; be prepared to teach a range of grade levels (9-12), courses, and texts; possess a passion for literature, teaching, and working with young people; and demonstrate commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and collegiality. Long-term, the position includes the opportunity to design a senior seminar around a particular area of expertise and/or interest.</div><div><br>

Specific Responsibilities Include:</div><ul><li><div>
Teaching four sections of US English courses, including instructional design and curriculum development</div></li><li><div>
Serving as an Upper School Advisor for 10-12 students for the duration of their time in the Upper School</div></li><li><div>
Serving as a faculty advisor for at least one extracurricular or student club</div></li><li><div>
Serving as a teacher, co-teacher, or chaperone for a week-long student Capstone course</div></li></ul><div></div><div><br>
