Job Title: Middle School/High School Science TeacherLocation: Pensacola, FloridaReports to: School PrincipalSupervises: Teacher aide(s) and volunteers as requiredStart Date: TBDFLSA Status: ExemptJob SummaryThe Middle School/High School Science Teacher position is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering curriculum in secondary science classes that aligns with both state standards and the School&rsquo;s educational philosophy; providing regular updates on curriculum development, student progress, and departmental needs; engaging in open communication with school administrators; seeking guidance and sharing insights to enhance a comprehensive program of instruction to support the overall mission of East Hill Christian School (&ldquo;EHCS&rdquo;); focusing on student development, academic success, and the cultivation of a positive, faith-based school culture. This person shall be a person of spiritual maturity and shall reflect the purpose of EHCS, which is to honor Christ at all times.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions consistently and to the satisfaction of EHCS. EHCS reserves the right to modify or interpret this job description as needed.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Promotes high student achievement.</li><li>Develops and implements a curriculum that aligns with both state standards and the School&rsquo;s educational philosophy.</li><li>Integrates biblical principles and Christian values into science lessons, demonstrating the relevance of faith in everyday life.</li><li>Employs innovative and engaging teaching methods to make science concepts accessible and relatable to students.</li><li>Provides clear and structured lessons that cater to diverse learning styles within the classroom.</li><li>Fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.</li><li>Develops and administers assessments to evaluate students&rsquo; understanding of scientific concepts.</li><li>Provides constructive feedback to students and parents, guiding them on areas of improvement while recognizing achievements.</li><li>Monitors and tracks student progress, identifying opportunities for additional support or enrichment.</li><li>Establishes and maintains a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to effective learning.</li><li>Implements consistent and fair discipline policies in accordance with the School&rsquo;s policies and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.</li><li>Stays current with educational trends, teaching methodologies, and advancements in the field of science.</li><li>Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, participates in professional development opportunities, and collaborates with colleagues to enhance teaching practices.</li><li>Communicates effectively with parents, keeping them informed about their children's academic progress and any related concerns.</li><li>Actively engages with the School community, attending events and contributing to the overall School culture.</li><li>Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.</li><li>Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.</li><li>Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with such goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, to communicate these objectives to students.</li><li>Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.</li><li>Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.</li><li>Counsels with colleagues, students, or parents on a regular basis.</li><li>Assists with implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.</li><li>Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with the School Principal, evaluates their job performance.</li><li>Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.</li><li>Contributes actively to chapel services and other spiritual development activities.</li><li>Embraces opportunities to integrate Christian values and principles into all aspects of education, fostering a holistic approach to student growth.</li></ul>*In addition to the above areas of responsibility, the Teacher shall carry out such other duties and tasks as assigned.Personal qualifications<ul><li>Deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with EHCS&rsquo;s Statement of Faith.</li><li>Proven spiritual, moral, academic, and leadership qualities.</li><li>Attendance and involvement in the ministry of a local evangelical church.</li><li>Christian maturity with knowledge of how to lead others to faith in Jesus Christ.</li><li>Be a warm, approachable Christian, while simultaneously evoking the respect of students, parents, and professional colleagues.</li><li>Ability to build strong/positive mentoring relationship with students.</li><li>Demonstrated wisdom, discernment, and strength that comes from God to make difficult decisions.</li><li>Commitment to Christian education.</li></ul>Skills/Abilities<ul><li>Understanding of the purpose, philosophy, and objectives of Christian school education.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to follow through on communications and decisions; manage time effectively; and establish appropriate priorities.</li></ul>Education and Experience<ul><li>Minimum of an earned Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree from an accredited educational institution in education, science, science education, or experience in a relevant field; Master&rsquo;s Degree preferred (required for DE/AP opportunities).</li><li>Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience or other relevant experience and participation in an alternative certification program.</li><li>Current professional education license/certificate or certification (or willingness to obtain certification) by the Association of Christian Schools International Association (or other comparable accrediting organization) and the State of Florida (preferred).</li></ul>*Qualifications may vary to such a degree as EHCS may determine is necessary and appropriate to ensure the employment of properly qualified personnel.Application ProcessInterested candidates must submit a resume, a cover letter detailing their vision for the role, college/university transcripts, and three professional references.
