<div>Job Summary: The Certified School Nurse (CSN) coordinates and implements the mandated School Health Services program in accordance with the Pennsylvania School Code, the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act, and Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations. The CSN provides comprehensive nursing services to students in grades PK&ndash;12, including assessment, care planning, treatment, follow-up, and referrals to support student health and well-being. The nurse collaborates with families, school staff, healthcare providers, and community agencies to promote a safe and healthy school environment. The CSN also supports health education, wellness, and safety initiatives that encourage healthy lifestyles and remove health-related barriers to learning. 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Provide nursing assessment, treatment, first aid, and emergency care for students and staff during the school day.</li><li>
Administer medications and medical treatments in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and district policy.</li><li>
Manage acute and chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, severe allergies) and provide specialized care such as blood glucose monitoring, tube feeding, catheterization, and other medically necessary procedures as ordered.</li><li>
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans for students with identified health needs.</li><li>
Conduct state-mandated health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, height/weight, BMI, scoliosis) and coordinate appropriate follow-up and referrals.</li><li>
Monitor student immunization records and ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Health requirements.</li><li>
Document and maintain accurate, confidential student health records, including charting of assessments, treatments, medications, and interventions in accordance with nursing standards and state and federal regulations.</li><li>
Coordinate referrals to healthcare providers and community agencies and facilitate access to medical, dental, and social services for students and families.</li><li>
Serve as a liaison among students, families, school personnel, healthcare providers, and community agencies to support student health and well-being.</li><li>
Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams including IEP, Section 504, MTSS/IST, and other student support teams when health-related needs are involved.</li><li>
Collaborate with school administrators, the school physician, and community partners to coordinate comprehensive student health services.</li><li>
Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school health program consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Health and Department of Education regulations.</li><li>
Collect, analyze, and report health data to support program evaluation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of school health services.</li><li>
Provide health education and counseling to students, staff, and families on topics such as nutrition, disease prevention, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.</li><li>
Support district wellness initiatives and assist with programs that promote student and staff health, safety, and well-being.</li><li>
Promote a safe and healthy school environment by assisting with communicable disease control, environmental health concerns, and accident prevention.</li><li>
Provide training and guidance to staff on first aid, emergency response procedures, and health-related safety practices.</li><li>
Participate in school safety planning, emergency preparedness activities, and crisis response as needed.</li><li>
Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development, continuing education, and compliance with licensure and certification requirements.</li><li>
Adhere to professional nursing standards, ethical practice, and confidentiality requirements in all aspects of school nursing services.</li><li>
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in School Nurse PK-12 required</li><li>
Submission of pre-employment medical examination</li><li>
Submission of the following clearances:<ul><li>
Pennsylvania State Criminal History Record</li><li>
Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Clearances</li><li>
Federal Background Check (Fingerprints)</li></ul></li><li>
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable</li></ul>
