POSITION SUMMARY
Eastern Shipbuilding Group is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to support the company's internal and external communications efforts. This role is ideal for a strong writer with a passion for storytelling, digital communications, and event coordination.
The Communications Coordinator will assist with media relations, social media management, company events, employee communications, and content development that showcases Eastern's people, projects, and community impact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING : Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, and the essential duties and responsibilities may be different from those described.
 <ul><li>Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
 </li><li>A positive attitude, reliable attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours and weekends as required.
 </li><li>A high level of communication skills is necessary.
</li><li>Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other external communications.
</li><li>Develop engaging content for Eastern Shipbuilding Group's social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other digital platforms.
</li><li>Monitor social media engagement and recommend opportunities to increase audience reach and engagement.
</li><li>Support planning and execution of company events, employee recognition programs, customer visits, vessel ceremonies, trade shows, and community outreach activities.
</li><li>Coordinate event logistics, photography, promotional materials, and post-event communications.
</li><li>Assist with writing internal communications, including employee newsletters, announcements, and intranet content.
</li><li>Capture photos and videos of company projects, employees, and events for use across communication channels.
</li><li>Maintain editorial and social media calendars.
</li><li>Assist with media inquiries and maintain media contact lists.
</li><li>Help ensure brand consistency across all communication materials.
</li><li>Support website content updates and digital communications initiatives.
</li><li>Coordinate with internal departments to gather information for news stories, project updates, and employee features.
</li><li>Perform other communications and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications
&middot; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
&middot; 1&ndash;3 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field (internships considered).
&middot; Excellent written, verbal, and proofreading skills.
&middot; Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
&middot; Experience using social media platforms in a professional setting.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Check critical measurements throughout all phases of vessel construction. This includes but is not limited to panel line construction through unit block erection.

<ul><li>Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
</li><li>Check measurements of panels during panel line fabrication.
</li><li>Check all jig construction for as-designed geometry.
</li><li>Check all critical alignments during unit construction.
</li><li>Check all critical alignments during block erection.
</li><li>Be available to help production with any measurements that may be required.
</li><li>Be available for any yard projects that will require critical measurement checks.
</li><li>Liaison between production and Engineering.
</li><li>Perform other duties as required.
</li></ul>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience: Three to five years shipyard experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience in the use of electronic and laser measuring equipment and dimensional control required. Requires knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Skills: Basic to Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and AutoCAD required. Requires proficiency in the structural aspects of shipbuilding and have working knowledge in all other disciplines. Ability to read and comprehend written, verbal, or diagram forms or plans. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction and shop drawings. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, supervisors and employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
