<div>Overview:
<p>
This position will have the responsibility for hourly or part-time management of Community-Engaged Learning administrative duties including scheduling and coordinating all activities related to HOPES CEL, CEL Lunch and Learns (booking rooms, ordering food, placing procurements), processing student reimbursements for health fairs, scheduling and attending health fairs, managing student travel and travel reimbursements, attending student or community meetings, schedule and coordinate events on our Engage platform (GivePulse) and other duties as assigned related to specific initiatives and services as advised by the CEL department.</p>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Fostering positive and collaborative relationships with community residents, local nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, businesses, and student organizations to facilitate health fair and health screening sites for the CEL department and all its initiatives by posting, managing and promoting the events on EVMS Engage (GivePulse), send invites and follow-ups, communicate with registrants, attendings/nurses and CEL office in a timely manner. Attending the events and assisting with onsite set-up and take-down.</li><li>
Conducting training for students and volunteers on program/stakeholder/initiative requirements as well as coordinating and executing key community engagement events, i.e. screening events, health fairs, stakeholder engagement activities, service days, and community volunteer recognition events for CEL.</li><li>
Manage, track and order supplies and settle invoices via AP. Assist the CEL team in equipment and asset management (like vehicles and healthcare equipment), manage biowaste and trash disposal protocols before and after healthfairs and at the CEL prep site and organize and inventory CEL initiative shelves as needed.</li><li>
Maintains and updates the CEL general or initiative specific REDCap database for participant screening and longitudinal follow-up. Maintain and analyze outreach data for all CEL activities for scholarly publications and assist in writing scholarly articles for publication</li></ul>

Strong Written Communication and Attention to Detail: Proficiency in composing and editing communication with internal and external stakeholders</li><li>
Data Management: Ability to gather, manage, and report large amounts of data accurately using electronic systems, ensuring all information is correct.</li><li>
Stakeholder Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Skilled in working with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and administration, to collect feedback and ensure clear communication of updates and processes.</li><li>
Time Management and Organizational Skills: Competence in managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress throughout the process.</li><li>
Problem-Solving and Process Improvement Skills: Ability to identify opportunities for improving clinical year processes, offering suggestions, and notifying of all concerns</li><li>
Required software skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint</li><li>
High School Diploma. Associates or Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree (or equivalent in experience) in a health or social and behavioral science field, such as public health, community health, psychology, sociology, social work with increasing responsibility required.</li><li>
One (1) year of work experience is required.</li></ul><div>
Preferred Qualifications:</div><ul><li>
Previous experience working within a team/collaborative environment. One (1) year of previous experience in an internship, academic or clinic setting is preferred.</li></ul>

Intern, Community-Engaged Learning

<div>Overview:
<p>
This internship provides structured, supervised applied learning in health data systems and electronic medical record (EMR) operations within the Center for Engagement &amp; Leadership (CEL). The intern will support the HOPES and Street Health programs by performing data quality reviews, generating reports, assisting with system configuration, and supporting curriculum-delivery tools&mdash;all within the context of CEL&rsquo;s community-engaged health education mission. Work is guided by contextual and content knowledge acquired through the intern&rsquo;s undergraduate degree; day-to-day supervision will be provided by the CEL Director and the Street Health Facilitator.</p>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li><b>EMR Data Quality Review:</b> Review and identify data entry inconsistencies, missing fields, and errors within the EMR system used by HOPES and Street Health. Flag issues for supervisor review and assist with corrections following established protocols</li><li><b>
Reporting and Data Exports:</b> Generate and format standard reports from the EMR system for program staff, faculty, and clinical supervisors. Compile data summaries to support program evaluation and accreditation reporting.</li><li><b>
User Support and System Configuration: </b>Assist program staff, students, and preceptors with day-to-day EMR access, account setup, and basic troubleshooting. Escalate unresolved technical issues to the vendor or DTT as appropriate.</li><li><b>
Interface and Data Exchange Support:</b> Under supervisor direction, assist with reviewing data exchange processes between the EMR and associated systems, flagging discrepancies and documenting workflow steps.</li><li><b>
Curriculum Support Tools (Medical Spanish):</b> Assist with maintaining and updating digital materials and tools supporting the Medical Spanish curriculum, including content updates and basic system configuration. Other duties as assigned</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications and Skills</p><ul><li><div>
Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Health Sciences, Information Systems, or a closely related field.</div></li><li><div>
Demonstrated coursework or experience with data entry, database use, or electronic health/medical records.</div></li><li><div>
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established data management procedures.</div></li><li><div>
Effective written and verbal communication skills.</div></li></ul><div>
Preferred Qualifications</div><ul><li>
Prior exposure to EMR platforms (e.g., Athena, Epic, or similar systems).</li><li>
Experience in a clinical, public health, or community health education environment.</li><li>
Familiarity with HIPAA and health data privacy requirements.</li><li>
Conversational or professional proficiency in Spanish.</li></ul>
