Position DescriptionJob Title: Program AssistantDepartment: Adult Services CenterReports to: Program DirectorWork Hours: 8:15 am - 4:30 pmWorkdays - Monday to Friday and some SaturdaysJob Summary: The Program Assistant is an integral member of the team. This position is responsible for three main areas within the center: Program Services, Group Facilitation, and Care Plan Management.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1) Program Services:<ul><li>Assist staff and participants in all aspects of program activities</li><li>Work with other staff to share ideas, seek assistance, and implement programs.</li><li>Follow occupational therapist and nursing guidance while assisting participants.</li><li>Provide assistance to participants when standing, walking or transferring.</li><li>Maintain participant dignity and self-respect</li><li>Maintain safe, sanitary, and organized environment.</li></ul>2) Group Facilitation:<ul><li>Design and schedule meaningful and appropriate group activities.</li><li>Supervise and facilitate activities to include games, crafts, reading and music.</li><li>Lead and encourage participants in prescribed exercise programs</li><li>Develop alternate activities addressing participant needs.</li><li>Ensure each participant gains something from activities.</li></ul>3) Care Plan Management:<ul><li>Follow HIPAA guidelines for protected health information and participant privacy.</li><li>Follow established protocols for assigned participant care plans.</li><li>Write individualized, legible, and accurate care plan progress notes.</li><li>Participate in care plan development and review meetings</li></ul>4) General Services:<ul><li>Assist with lunch service and clean-up</li><li>Perform set-up, closing and activity clean-up duties</li><li>Attend regular staff meetings</li><li>Perform other such duties as may be assigned</li></ul>SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:A. A high school graduate or the equivalentB. At least 18 years of ageC. Prior experience working in health care, aging services, and/or services for people with disabilities (six months minimum).D. Must have proof of U.S. citizenship or right to work.E. Flexible schedule of availability.F. Must complete/obtain and maintain current trainings, certifications, and testing as required according to the WAC; including but not limited to CPR/First Aid certification, initial 2-step TB Test prior to start date, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Food Handler&rsquo;s Permit within 30 days of hire.G.
