This position performs subject analysis and classification on a broad range and depth of formats, including print, visual, audio and digital resources. As a GOBI cataloger, your core responsibility will be to provide cataloging information for subject profiling services, with a supplemental responsibility of creating full level metadata records following RDA standards and customer specifications to support material supplied by the Library Technical Services department for purchased content.</div><div></div><div><br>
This is an on-site role at our office in Contoocook, NH.</div>
What You'll Do:
<ul><li>Assigns Library of Congress Subject Headings and appropriate sub-headings following Subject Headings Manual and LCSH rules, as well as Library of Congress Classification and cutter numbers following LC Classification and Cataloging &amp; Shelflisting Manual instructions</li><li>
Assigns Dewey Decimal Classification using the full current edition</li><li>
Assigns Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and appropriate sub-heading strings as well as National Library of Medicine classification</li><li>
Assigns Canadian literature, history and KF modified classification as appropriate</li><li>
Assigns library-specific cuttering and shelflisting as required</li><li>
Creates full-level cataloging in MARC (or other metadata format) following RDA and Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements</li><li>
Searches OCLC, LC catalog and authorities, and customer online catalogs as necessary</li><li>
Upgrades LC CIP records and other less-than-full-level records</li></ul>
About You:
<ul><li>2+ years of Cataloging experience in a library or library service provider setting.
</li><li>2+ year experience with MS Word and/or Excel.</li><li>
Experience using LC Classification Web, OCLC Connexion, Cataloger&rsquo;s Desktop and/or OCLC WebDewey.</li><li>
Experience applying cataloging standards such as RDA and PCC guidelines, or set for in the Library of Congress Subject Headings Manual and the Classification &amp; Shelfisting Manual
</li></ul><div><b>What sets you apart:</b></div><ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Library and/or Information Science preferred</li><li>
Experience assigning Library of Congress and/or Dewey classification numbers, and/or experience conducting subject analysis</li><li>
Ability to work in a production environment with deadlines and cataloging quotas</li><li>
Ability to multitask and demonstrate flexibility to adjust to changing priorities</li>
Highly developed organizational skills to work efficiently while managing frequent interruptions and fluctuating workloads.<br>
