Element has an opportunity for an <b>Associate Engineer</b> to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.</div><br>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Perform coatings testing related to qualification tests on heat shrink sleeves, product qualification tests on elastomers and polymers based on international standards</li><li>
Perform sour and non-sour corrosion testing on various ferrous and non-ferrous alloys as applicable</li><li>
Perform metallurgical examination (like macro examination, microstructure examination, grain size, inclusion count, banding index, phase balance, nodularity</li><li>
Ability to support in performing mechanical testing with a minimum hands-on experience in tensile testing, bend testing, charpy impact testing, hardness testing</li><li>
Provide technical and engineering inputs and support the development of new technologies within the laboratory</li><li>
Be responsible in ensuring accurate and timely release of test data to customers for sign-off by technical leads and maintain records of quality control data as required</li><li>
Be expected to obtain valuable inputs and ownership in non-routine situation testing</li><li>
Have the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem-solving activities</li><li>
Interact with customers and witness representatives on the test procedures, technical issues and questions</li><li>
Provide Input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers</li><li>
Will be required to work in varied shifts as required and also work at site locations for testing as deemed necessary by Company</li></ul>
Skills / Qualifications:
<ul><li>Working knowledge of laboratory safety and work culture in an ISO 17025 laboratory and adept in handling chemicals and reagents</li><li>
Possess a good level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline</li><li>
Possess a minimum of an engineering degree preferably in Metallurgy or Mechanical disciplines</li><li>
Have a minimum 2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory testing experience</li><li>
Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element&rsquo;s business</li><li>
Operational knowledge of LIMS and similar laboratory management systems is a definite advantage</li><li>
Experience in performing tests (PMI, hardness, ferrite, replica and similar) at site would be useful</li><li>
In-depth understanding of testing concepts and hands on-experience in handling test equipment related to the required responsibilities to be undertaken for this position</li><li>
Can analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed</li><li>
Possess strong computer skills along with good oral and written communication skills in English</li></ul>

Associate Engineer (Metallurgy)

The primary function of the Construction Materials Testing Technician is to provide construction representative testing and inspection services on various construction and land development projects.<br>
Work schedule may be variable including nights and weekends depending on contractor&rsquo;s schedules.</div><div></div><div><br>
Salary: $25- $30/hr DOE</div><br>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Ensure compliance with safety rules, company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.</li><li>Set up, conduct, and analyze standard field and lab tests following prescribed procedures.</li><li>Performing testing/inspection of soil, aggregates, concrete, masonry, rebar, and bituminous pavement in the field and laboratory.</li><li>Concrete tests may include air content, slump, temperature, casting of concrete cylinders, de-molding, and compression testing.</li><li>Soil/aggregate testing may include mechanical analysis, Proctor, Atterberg Limit, soil nuclear density testing, and sand cone testing.</li><li>Bituminous pavement testing may include nuclear density testing to establish a rolling pattern or verify field density, testing bituminous cores for thickness and density, tests for oil content (extraction) and gradation, Gyratory density, and air voids.</li><li>Other job functions include performing excavation observations, documenting exposed soil conditions are suitable for planned construction, and proof-roll testing for suitability of street subgrade/aggregate base prior to pavement placement.</li><li>Solve technical problems using application of standard techniques.</li><li>Assist in documenting on-site test results; examine and analyze test results and explain unusual findings.</li><li>Ensure that all testing equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained.</li><li>Communicate with Clients, Technicians, and Project Managers on a professional level to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.</li></ul>
Skills / Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience<br>
<ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>2+ years in construction industry or two years technical/trade preferred.</li></ul>

Language Skills<br>
<ul><li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals.</li></ul></div><ul><li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.</li></ul><div></div><div><br>
Mathematical Skills<br>
<ul><li>Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.</li></ul></div><div></div><div><br>

Physical Demands<br>
<ul><li>Frequency of required physical force: Occasional (moderate).</li><li>Lifting requirements: lifting &lt;50 lbs. often and &gt; 50 lbs. sporadically.</li><li>Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.</li><li>Work in all weather conditions. A valid driver&rsquo;s license and safe driving record is required.</li><li>Knowledge of Construction techniques, testing &amp; construction management preferred.</li><li>Ability to document completed jobs including notes on client contacts, action in the field, subsequent laboratory test with dates and times noted for review purposes.</li><li>Ability to maintain a tactful attitude and maintain good relationships with project engineers, owners, and contractors.</li><li>Ability to talk knowledgably to project engineers and/or contractors about the jobs as required regarding concerning work progress and necessary recommendations.</li><li>Ability to convey thoughts orally accurately and fluently and in writing.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)</li><li>Understanding of Nuclear Density Gauge Radiation Safety.</li><li>Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events in the community, with customers and within the company.</li></ul></div>
