Element has an opportunity for a <b>Metallurgist</b> whose primary responsibility is to support the Metallurgy Lab Manager in running day to day laboratory affairs along with site and field testing.</div><div></div><div><br>
This position will be based in <b>Doha, Qatar.</b></div><br>
<div></div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Ensure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements</li><li>
Perform metallurgical failure analysis on failed metallic (ferrous and non-ferrous) components, generating failure investigation reports with technical findings</li><li>
Carry out the mechanical tests for material properties evaluation and weld procedure specification qualification as per various international standards (ASME, API, AWS and BS)</li></ul><p>
The tests include</p><ul><li><ul><li>
tensile test</li><li>
Impact test</li><li>
Nick-Break test</li><li>
Bend Test</li><li>
Macro examination</li><li>
CTOD and others</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li>
Carry out the corrosion tests as per NACE standards and other project specification to determine the susceptibility of material to corrosion in various service conditions</li><li>
Perform metallographic examinations on various materials to be determine grain size, cleanliness, volume percentage of phases and general microstructure evaluation</li><li>
Coordinate with the clients &amp; third party witness as to the testing details</li><li>
Manage technicians to carry out work as per the planning schedule</li><li>
Be willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manager to assist in the execution Element Technology annual targets and budget</li></ul>
Skills / Qualifications:<br>

Bachelor degree in Metallurgy or related discipline</li><li>
Minumum 7 years experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testing</li><li>
Minimum 5 years experience required in mechanical tests and failure analysis</li><li>
Excellent technical report writing skills</li><li>
Good maths skills</li><li>
Knowledge and experience of safe operation of metallurgical testing equipment and operating in lab and / or industrial environment</li><li>
Excellent organisational and team leading skills</li><li>
Exceptional communication skills</li></ul>

Metallurgist

<div>Overview:
<div>
Element has an opportunity for a <b>Machinist</b> to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.</div><br>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Uses cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing as dictated in customer specifications</li><li>
Designs, sets-up and performs a variety of machining tasks according to customer specifications and requirements</li><li>
Requires little supervision and technical input of a Department Manager, Principal Machinist, Project Coordinator or Engineer</li><li>
Possesses the ability to mentor and train machinists who have less experience through effective communication of machining process and technical data</li><li>
Ability to transfer technical knowledge of machining procedures/requirements and successfully satisfy and meet customer expectations</li><li>
Maintains equipment and schedules preventative maintenance</li><li>
Gathers and records dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements</li></ul>
Skills / Qualifications:
<ul><li>Working knowledge of laboratory safety</li><li>
HS diploma or GED certificate preferred; College or vocational school coursework welcomed</li><li>
Must have earned Associate degree in related testing or science field and/or possess 3-6 years of experience in a machining shop environment</li><li>
In-depth understanding of specimen preparation</li><li>
May have earned Associate degree mechanical related field</li><li>
Depth of understanding related to machining concepts, measuring instruments and dimensional concepts</li><li>
Working knowledge of machine shop safety protocol</li><li>
Strong computer skills</li><li>
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus</li></ul><div>

Machinist

The primary function of the Construction Materials Testing Technician is to provide construction representative testing and inspection services on various construction and land development projects.<br>
Work schedule may be variable including nights and weekends depending on contractor&rsquo;s schedules.</div><div></div><div><br>
Salary: $25- $30/hr DOE</div><br>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Ensure compliance with safety rules, company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.</li><li>Set up, conduct, and analyze standard field and lab tests following prescribed procedures.</li><li>Performing testing/inspection of soil, aggregates, concrete, masonry, rebar, and bituminous pavement in the field and laboratory.</li><li>Concrete tests may include air content, slump, temperature, casting of concrete cylinders, de-molding, and compression testing.</li><li>Soil/aggregate testing may include mechanical analysis, Proctor, Atterberg Limit, soil nuclear density testing, and sand cone testing.</li><li>Bituminous pavement testing may include nuclear density testing to establish a rolling pattern or verify field density, testing bituminous cores for thickness and density, tests for oil content (extraction) and gradation, Gyratory density, and air voids.</li><li>Other job functions include performing excavation observations, documenting exposed soil conditions are suitable for planned construction, and proof-roll testing for suitability of street subgrade/aggregate base prior to pavement placement.</li><li>Solve technical problems using application of standard techniques.</li><li>Assist in documenting on-site test results; examine and analyze test results and explain unusual findings.</li><li>Ensure that all testing equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained.</li><li>Communicate with Clients, Technicians, and Project Managers on a professional level to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.</li></ul>

Education and/or Experience<br>
<ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>2+ years in construction industry or two years technical/trade preferred.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals.</li></ul></div><ul><li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
