POSITION: INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL &ndash; Special EducationREPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPALLOCATION: EAST HIGHTERMS: 5 &frac12; hrs/day; 9:40 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.; Part-time; 9 Month position(days consistent with student days as assigned)Minimum starting rate: $12.41/hrESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>Under educator supervision and as determined by the lesson plan, tutor a class subject, and provide needed individual/group assistance enabling student progress</li><li>Provide assistance and tutoring with K-12 mathematics in individual or group settings per the educator's specific instruction*</li><li>Provide assistance and tutoring with K-12 communication arts (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in individual or group settings per the educator's specific instruction*</li><li>Under teacher direction, monitor and/or assist with completion of class assignments</li><li>Maintain student progress notes and worklogs; prepare related reports</li><li>Monitor students' independent projects per the educator's specific instructions*</li><li>Attend training sessions related to job functions at the request of the administrator</li><li>Notify principal or other building administrator of any emergency situation immediately</li><li>Under teacher direction, follow classroom discipline plans</li><li>Obtains, word processes, copies, staples, laminates, and delivers instructional materials; develops visual educational aids; maintains classroom bulletin boards and hallway displays</li><li>Perform ongoing assessment of student performance and maintain records per the educator's specific instructions*</li><li>Physically help students with special needs carry out daily school routine and educational and personal activities</li><li>Maintains current CPR/First Aid/AED Certificate (when required)</li><li>Maintain medical access logs</li><li>Perform related work as required</li></ul>* NOTE - All instructional duties shall be performed by the instructional paraprofessional in a purely supportive role under the direct supervision of the educator(s) and/or other supervisor.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Considerable knowledge of subject area responsibility, i.e., math, communication arts (reading, writing, listening, speaking)</li><li>Considerable knowledge of developmental stages of children</li><li>Ability to accept some autonomy of action</li><li>Ability to communicate well orally and in writing</li><li>Ability to maintain basic education records and prepare related reports</li><li>Ability to rate subject matter tests</li><li>Ability to expeditiously learn and apply classroom paraprofessional principles and practices</li><li>Skill in working with students to impart subject matter knowledge</li><li>Ability to perform basic mathematical operations</li><li>Ability to operate standard office equipment</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work and in working relations with associates, district staff, students and vendors</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with administration, parents, students and associates</li><li>Ability to stand, walk, sit, handle, talk, hear, see, carry books, and, where applicable, physically help students with special needs, and be able to carry up to 50 lbs</li><li>Attend additional training (20 hours) as required</li></ul>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>Must have completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness)</li><li>Must have current CPR/First Aid/AED Certficate (when required);</li><li>AND Must have completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic process to obtain the Pennsylvania Special Education Paraeducator Credential of Competency.</li></ul>Individuals who are interested in this position should apply online through the districts website at www.applitrack.com no later than October 18, 2018.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $14.71 per hour
