We're seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support empirical. In this role, you will manage the sourcing and purchasing of materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies that keep our operations running smoothly. This position requires independent judgment and the ability to adapt quickly&mdash;whether you're supporting production needs, facility maintenance, or ongoing equipment modifications. You'll work closely with vendors, internal teams, and management to ensure we have the right materials at the right time and place.</div>
Responsibilities:

Procurement &amp; Vendor Management</b></div><ul><li>
Review and process purchase requisitions, ensuring proper approvals and completeness.</li><li>
Prepare purchase orders and obtain competitive quotes from vendors.</li><li>
Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and specifications with suppliers.</li><li>
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships</li><li>
Arrange freight and expedite orders as needed.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
Administrative &amp; Record Keeping</b></div><ul><li>
Maintain accurate purchasing records including costs, delivery schedules, and product quality metrics.</li><li>
Organize and update purchasing library, catalogs, and project documentation.</li><li>
Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, receipts, and billing.</li><li>
Track parts and materials throughout the purchase order life cycle.</li></ul><div><b>
Problem Solving &amp; Support</b></div><ul><li>
Investigate and resolve purchasing or contractual disputes in coordination with management.</li><li>
Research materials, parts, and equipment options, providing price comparisons and availability data.</li><li>
Support fellow purchasing team members during scheduling conflicts or high-volume periods.</li><li>
Collaborate across departments to address purchasing needs and resolve issues.</li></ul><div><b>
Fleet Management</b></div><ul><li>
Oversee forklift and vehicle fleet maintenance and safety.</li><li>
Schedule service appointments and negotiate with maintenance vendors.</li><li>
Ensure all fleet equipment is operational, safe, and available when needed.</li><li>
Track vehicle usage and maintenance records.</li></ul><div><b>

Qualifications:

Skills and Abilities</b></div><ul><li>
Basic math skills.</li><li>
General computer knowledge and proficiency.</li><li>
Proficiency with Accounting Software and Microsoft Office(preferred).</li><li>
Excellent written and verbal communication at all organizational levels.</li><li>
Capability to build and maintain effective vendor relationships.</li></ul><div><b>
Demonstrated Competencies</b></div><ul><li>
Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail is required.</li><li>
Ability to adapt to conflicting deadlines and priorities established by company demands.</li><li>

Physical Requirements</b></div><ul><li>
Must be able and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends.</li><li>
Office setting, may require occasional visits to manufacturing facilities.</li></ul><div><b>
Experience:</b> 1+ years of experience in a purchasing agent role is preferred. Experience in the food processing industry is desired.</div><div><b>
Education:</b> High School diploma or equivalent, or verifiable ability to perform essential job functions.<br>
