POSITION SUMMARY:</p><p>
 The Medical Assistant (MA) is an unlicensed individual who performs basic administrative, clerical (front office) tasks and routine medical (back office) tasks and procedures under direct supervision of a licensed physician, designated advanced practice provider or Registered Nurse in a clinical setting. They assist the medical providers and may perform within the scope of practice of a medical assistant such as: support of clinic operations, rooming activities such as collect/record patient data including medical histories, patient questionnaires, medications, height, weight vital signs, pain, fall risk, and prepare patients for clinician evaluation. The MA may apply and remove dressings, administer medications (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and inhaled), remove sutures, perform lab draws, participate/perform in-clinic procedures and other similar treatments and/or procedures within the MA scope of practice and organizational policy related to the specific service line.</p><p></p><p>
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:</p><p>
Minimum:</p><p>
Must meet at least one of the following:</p><ul><li>
Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant</li><li>
 Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program.</li><li>
 Completed a formal medical training program of the United States Armed Forces AND one year back-office patient care experience in a medical office.</li><li>
 Previous medical training such as an EMT, Nurse Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant AND one year back-office patient care experience in a medical office.</li><li>
 Associate degree or higher in a clinical healthcare field and one-year back-office patient care experience in a medical office.</li></ul><p>
Desired:</p><ul><li>
California certification as a Certified Medical Assistant</li><li>
Experience within a specific service line specialty to which applying.</li><li>
Medical office experience to include front and or back-office operations.</li><li>
Previous phlebotomy experience, if required by specialty service</li></ul><p></p><p>

</li></ul><p></p><p>SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:</p><p>
Must be skilled in both front and back-office clinic operations. Familiarity with tasks such as, but not limited to medication administration (administering oral, subcutaneous/intramuscular injections and inhaled medications, as applicable), performing blood draws, and supporting in clinic procedural services as required by specialty. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public. Must perform duties in a professional and respectful manner. Must demonstrate basic medical / technical competence, a general knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment and capable of utilizing clerical and computer skills for a variety of medical office support functions. Must show sensitivity for the patient and their family and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position and other clinic-based duties as required to support patient care within service, as applicable.</p><p></p><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

POSITION SUMMARY:</p><p>
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant may give patient care. They may perform selected nursing procedures as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. The CNA transports non-controlled medications to and from pharmacy. Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides a support function to the nurse by coordinating special tasks and assisting where needed. The Certified Nursing Assistant collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care.</p><p></p><p>

POSITION SUMMARY:</div><div>
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Department leader, the Patient Care Support Technician (PCST) will provide patient handling (lift/turn/transfer) assistance in designated departments at Enloe Medical Center. The PCST will provide patient transport at the Esplanade site to/from/between units, testing areas, ED and/or Surgery as assigned. The PCST will be proficient in the use of Enloe Medical Center patient handling equipment and will work alone, with other hospital personnel to perform scheduled and non-scheduled patient lifts, turns, transports, and transfers. The PCST will assist in patient handling/transport equipment management, including cleaning and ensuring the equipment is available and in proper working order for use. The PCST will provide instruction on use of the patient handling equipment to general nursing staff as appropriate. The duties of the PCST will be carried out in a customer service-oriented fashion; recognizing their important contribution to patient satisfaction.</div><div></div><div>

Must demonstrate technical competence, excellent communication skills and sensitivity for the hospitalized patient/family. Must have knowledge and skills of basic body mechanics and safe patient lift/transfer techniques including the ability to learn the use of Enloe&rsquo;s patient handling equipment. Will work with other staff and must respond to frequent calls in a timely manner. Must be able to train staff in the use of patient handling equipment. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Strength assessment and functional capacity evaluation is required prior to employment offer. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.</div><div></div><div>
