The Accounting Supervisor performs specialized accounting, administers the Pratt Library's timekeeping and procurement, and is a key player with the financial records for the Enoch Pratt Library. The Accounting Supervisor prepares the Pratt Library&rsquo;s financial statement and takes a lead role in coordinating the yearly audit. This position supervises an Administrative Coordinator and an Accountant I.</div><div></div><div>
The Accounting Supervisor will work under the supervision of the Library's Controller.</div><div></div><div>
This position can be hybrid after 90 days of employment.</div><div></div><div>

Salary: $76,229 to $97,243 annually</div><div>

Summary of Duties:</div><div>
The summary of duties listed below is not exhaustive. Additional duties are dependent upon the needs of the hiring department or division.</div><ul><li><div>
Supervises a revolving book purchase fund, including payments, reimbursements and reconciliations.</div></li><li><div>
Primary preparer of annual 990 filing.</div></li><li><div>
Maintains liaison with City and State personnel and agencies.</div></li><li><div>
Supervises all routine and non-routine purchase requests for the Pratt Library, utilizing various purchasing mechanisms in accordance with City of Baltimore and Library procurement guidelines.</div></li><li><div>
Grant reporting, billing and oversight.</div></li><li><div>
Assists in maintenance of accounting and business office policies and procedures.</div></li><li><div>
Preparation of annual audited financial statements in conjunction with CFO, Controller, and second Accounting Supervisor. Statements require consolidation of data from multiple sources.</div></li><li><div>
Works directly with auditors to assist in coordination of the annual audit process including preparation of various reconciliations and schedules working with other Library staff.</div></li><li><div>
Monthly financial reporting to stakeholders. Self-actuating follow-up, including detailed account reconciliation and preparation of journal entries as needed.</div></li><li><div>
Supports the annual budget process.</div></li><li><div>
Supervises the Administrative Coordinator (procurement) and Accountant I.</div></li><li><div>
Serves as Library lead for bi-weekly review of time entry in Workday, including liaison with City payroll services to resolve employee pay concerns.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Minimum Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.</div></li><li><div>
Five (5) years of experience in a complex accounting environment.</div></li><li><div>
Experience with MS Excel and MS Office applications.</div></li><li><div>
Experience in accounting for GASB and GAAP.</div></li><li><div>
Supervisory experience.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Preferred Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>
Accounting experience in a government agency or non-profit organization.</div></li><li><div>
Public Accounting experience preferred.</div></li><li><div>
Experience with MIP software beneficial.</div></li><li><div>
Experience with Workday or a similar ERP is beneficial.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</div><ul><li><div>
Advanced knowledge of principles of accounting, GASB, and GAAP in a nonprofit/governmental setting.</div></li><li><div>
Technical knowledge, proficiency, and hands on ability in automated accounting systems administration and operation (MIP preferred).</div></li><li><div>
Maintenance of Chart of Account and Accounting Systems.</div></li><li><div>
Demonstrated communication and customer service skills.</div></li><li><div>
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of financial management.</div></li><li><div>
Knowledge of financial statement preparation including consolidation in an automated environment.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Library staff, administrators and city and state officials.</div></li><li><div>
Advanced proficiency in MS Office including Excel and Word.</div></li><li><div>
Experience coordinating all activities related to an external audit.</div></li><li><div>
Experience meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</div></li><li><div>
Team player.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Position of Trust: Those under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check.</div><div></div><div>
