<p>
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Recovery Services Transporter escorts or transports patients within the hospital. Assists patients in walking or transports non-ambulatory patients using wheelchair, stretcher or bed. Transports patients alone or with assistance in bed or wheelchair to designated area within facility. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).</p>

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:</b></p>
<p>
Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently.</p>

Patients, family members and significant others, physicians and Associates, other health care providers, community resource personnel, administrative staff, and hospital support services. Must be able to communicate effectively. Should be pleasant, conscientious, objective, tactful, diplomatic, and responsible.
</p><p></p><p><b>EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:</b></p>
<p>
Stretchers and wheelchairs. Must have good body mechanics.

<p>One to three (1-3) years work experience required.<b> </b>Hospital experience preferred.</p><br>

PACU/Transporter

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care under the direction of licensed staff and within the scope of defined practice. Demonstrates a commitment to accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Serves as a liaison between other departments ensuring communication and accurate records are available. Adheres to practice in accordance with the Ephraim McDowell Health nursing professional practice model. Performance that accomplishes patient and family centered care as central to practice and a foundation of caring, compassion, competence, communication, collaboration and teamwork. Responsible to participate in shared nursing leadership to accomplish positive outcomes, education, respect, dignity, and safety. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).</p>

5T PCT DAYSHIFT

<div><div>The Unit Extender position is divided into four (4) individual roles with specific job duties within each role. An individual in this position is expected to be able to function effectively in all roles. The four (4) roles consist of the ED scribe/transcriptionist, ED Patient Care Technician, the ED Triage Technician and the ED Clerk. <div></div><div><b>Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents:</b></div>
<div><b>Education:</b>CNA/SRNA certification preferred. CMA certification preferred. Will receive on the job training. Medical terminology is preferred.</div>
<div><b>Experience:</b> One-year hospital experience preferred. Medical terminology experience is preferred. Phlebotomy experience preferred. EKG experience preferred. Basic computer/typing skills are preferred.</div>
