Position OverviewThe medical assistant is responsible for assisting providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostics, treatment, and dressing changes. All patient care is under the direction of a physician and within the scope of a medical assistant.Essential Job Functions&middot; Delivers appropriate care to patients&middot; Reviews charts prior to patients&rsquo; scheduled appointment to assure that all requested lab work and diagnostic procedures have been completed and that reports have been returned and are accessible to the provider&middot; Reviews, Obtains, and records patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, height/weight and blood pressure and reason for visit and documents appropriately following guidelines&middot; Cross-trains to perform patient access tasks, including: taking messages and assisting providers with returning phone calls to patients and pharmacies as appropriate.&middot; Directs patients to exam/procedure rooms; assists in preparing patients for the examination. Notifies the provider of the patient&rsquo;s arrival and readiness. Assists providers with examinations and procedures&middot; Operates and monitors functioning of equipment and provides patient care according to policies and procedures.&middot; Recognizes emergency situations, seeks assistance and intervenes appropriately. Monitors patient during and following procedures; looks for reactions and other visible complications; reacts to emergency situations; notifies the appropriate person in the event of an emergency.&middot; Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice&middot; Performs other duties as requiredQualifications&middot; BS/BA or equivalent work experience&middot; Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements&middot; Computer skills&middot; Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills&middot; Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with ICD and CPT coding&middot; Good telephone etiquetteJob Type: Full-timePay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
