Summary
Provide social service assistance to St. Louis County Library patrons seeking resources and guidance. Provide education and overall guidance to library staff throughout the St. Louis region in social services areas, including crisis management, substance use, child abuse/neglect, housing insecurity, food insecurity, interpersonal and sexual violence, mental health conditions, and other areas as required.
Primary Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Collect demographic information to be used in the assessment of program outcomes.</li><li>
Assess client/patrons' needs throughout St. Louis County and make appropriate referrals in areas such as access to food, housing, employment, counseling (mental health service), emergency shelter, substance use treatment programs, child abuse and neglect prevention support.</li><li>
Implement crisis management techniques when required.</li><li>
Using evidence-informed or evidence-based curriculum, provide training to Library employees in crisis management, trauma-informed practice, and de-escalation techniques.</li><li>
Consult with Library staff to develop programs to support clients/patrons needs.</li><li>
Track service delivery and program expenditures
</li><li>Obtain/maintain certification/expertise in at least one evidence-based curriculum (Mental Health First Aid, Safe Crisis Management, Trauma-Informed Care, Homelessness and Poverty, Developmental Stages)</li><li>
Deliver training to staff at multiple Library branches in the assigned evidence-based curriculum.</li><li>
Provide direct case management services as required.</li></ul>
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in human services, MSW preferred.
</li><li>Minimum 2 years&rsquo; experience in social work, including three months in case management.</li><li>
Demonstrated competence in providing formalized training &amp; instructions in individual &amp; group settings.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience as a positive contributor in a close team and community relationship, and with community resource mobilization.</li></ul>

Adhere to agency rules, policies, and procedures, including attendance, program/department-specific procedures, workplace safety, code of conduct, social media, training requirements, and confidentiality.
</li><li>The ability to operate in a non-judgmental manner and to assess client needs.</li><li>
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.
</li><li>Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
</li><li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, public groups and/or clients.</li><li>
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
</li><li>Able to make independent decisions through application of common sense, data, and knowledge gained through training and education.
</li><li>Ability to solve problems and deal with abstract and concrete variables in situations and to synthesize information consistent with the organizational strategy and mission.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The physical requirements of this job include sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs on a regular basis, lifting up to 25lbs, and pulling and/or pushing on occasion.</li><li>
The majority of this job is performed at various St. Louis County Library branches as patrons request services, and will require daily access to reliable personal transportation for travel between branches. This position&rsquo;s home branch will be Natural Bridge.</li></ul>
Other: Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license, reliable access to an automobile and valid automobile insurance is required.</div>
